Gurugram Police to identify fake number plates with AI-powered surveillance system

To streamline, ensure and strengthen the law and order system, security and smooth functioning of traffic, the Gurugram Police is planning to implement an AI-powered vehicle number plate recognition system.

The City Police has partnered with Staqu Technologies to implement this state-of-the-art technology. Equipped with artificial intelligence, patented technology and unique capabilities, existing CCTV cameras scan and verify number plates with the registration numbers of vehicles issued by the Regional Transport Authority (RTO).

Police said this platform instantly identifies discrepancies and also sends alerts to the concerned authorities in real time. This initiative marks significant progress in strengthening law and order and the security system.

This system will instantly cross-verify the number plates with the government records and is capable of identifying anomalies like fake number plates, stolen vehicles and blacklisted vehicles etc. This technology also helps in finding vehicles with their features like colour models etc.

Gurugram District Magistrate has banned the sale and use of firecrackers in the district. However, the order will not be applicable to the eco-friendly crackers.

Gurugram Deputy Commissioner said the orders would remain effective from October 22, 2024, to January 31, 2025.

He said there would be a complete ban on the manufacture, sale and use of all types of firecrackers except the green ones.

Gurugram: Three held for killing youth for long-standing grudge

The Gurugram Police have arrested three accused for allegedly killing a 24-year-old man in Khedla village over a feud.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Devender alias David (21), Sagar alias Saurabh (19) and Ankit (20), all residents of village Khedla in Gurugram. The victim has been identified as Atul, who too belonged to the same village.

The victim's father told the police that on October 6, David and Sagar took his son Atul on their bike and he was missing since then, following which a case was filed at Sohna Sadar police station.

Voting in the Gurugram district for the Haryana assembly general elections 2024, on Saturday was peaceful where the BJP is looking for a third term.

Polling, which began at 7 am, continued till 6 pm. The counting of votes will be conducted on October 8 along with J&K and the results will be declared on the same day.

The BJP, which won 40 seats in Haryana in the last Assembly polls, has this time set a target to get a full majority in the state.

According to the data released by the District Election Office, 57.2 per cent of polling was recorded in the district till 6.00 pm. The district recorded 5 per cent more votes in comparison to the 2019 polls.

The election to the 90-seat legislative Assembly on Saturday saw over 40 per cent of voters cast their ballots by 1 P.M., amidst minor skirmishes in Narnaund.

Among the early voters were outgoing Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, Opposition leaders like Bhupinder Hooda, Kumari Selja, and Randeep Singh Surjewala.

In the BJP-ruled state 2.03 crore electorates will decide the fate of 1,031 candidates.

A voter turnout of 9.53 per cent was recorded by 9 A.M, in the first two hours of polling.

According to the Election Commission data, the overall poll percentage was 40.1 per cent till 1 P.M.

Among the districts, Ambala recorded a poll percentage of 42.2, Bhiwani 40.2, Charkhi Dadri 40.8, Faridabad 32.5, Fatehabad 4208, Gurugram 33.2, Hisar 41.4, Jhajjar 40.3, Jind 43.5, Kaithal 44.5, Karnal 41.1, Kurukshetra 43.9, Mewat 45.1, Palwal 41.3, Panipat 42.4, Rewari 32.2, Rohtak 37.9, Panchkula 38.7 and Sonipat 38.6.

Gurugram district's four Assembly constituencies -- Gurgaon, Sohna, Badshahpur and Pataudi (SC) -- recorded 3 per cent voter turnout in the first two hours of polling on Saturday.

Polling began at 7 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m.

Former minister and Badshahpur seat candidate Rao Narbir Singh and his family members were the early voters. They cast their vote at a government school in Fazilpur Jharsa village on Saturday and appealed to voters to exercise their franchise.

In four Assembly constituencies of Gurugram district, there are a total of 1,507 booths.

The Government of Haryana has procured over 69,646 metric tons of paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) so far, despite the ongoing strike by rice millers in Haryana and Punjab. The procurement process continues smoothly, with government agencies ensuring that farmers are not affected by the strike.

A spokesperson from the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, while sharing this information, stated that as of today, a total of 2,96,211 metric tons of paddy have arrived in 241 mandis (markets) across the state.

He stated that government agencies have purchased a total of 69,646 metric tons of paddy with up to 17% moisture content, of which 5,267 metric tons have already been lifted.Timely payment to farmers is being ensured, with Rs. 3 crore directly transferred to the bank accounts of over 7,276 farmers.

Gurugram: Man held for killing 33-year-old over monetary dispute

The Gurugram Police have arrested an accused for allegedly killing a 33-year-old over a monetary dispute, police said.

The accused was identified as Hariya (38), a resident of Bhimgarh Khedi village under the Sector-5 police station. The victim was identified as Pradeep, who lived in the same village.

According to the police, they received information that a body was lying in Bhimgarh Khedi village.

Upon information, a team from the Sector-5 police station reached the spot and recovered the body with injured marks on the head.
