Pakistan: Six killed, scores injured as bus falls into ravine

A passenger bus plunged into a ravine in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Saturday, claiming six lives while leaving 24 others injured, police said.

The incident happened when the vehicle tumbled off a road in the Dhana Sar area of the Zhob district of the province, according to the police in the area, reports news agency.

Following the incident, police, along with rescue teams, reached the site and shifted the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital. Local volunteers also participated in the rescue activities.

The condition of several of the injured is reported to be critical, according to the hospital sources.

The season's 13th typhoon could bring violent winds and rough seas to the country's southern island prefecture of Okinawa, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said.

"Be on high alert for strong winds, high waves and heavy rain disasters due to the influence of Typhoon No. 13, strong winds will blow in the Amami and Okinawa regions, fierce winds will blow on the September 14. In southern Kyushu, the Amami region and the Okinawa region, the sea will be very rough through Sunday, and some areas will experience very heavy rain," JMA posted on X.

Twenty-two people were injured in a car crash in South Korea on the first day of the five-day Chuseok holiday, the country's autumn harvest celebration, on Saturday.

An express bus collided with a guardrail and hit a median strip near a toll of an expressway in western Busan, the country's southeastern port city, at about 6:56 a.m. local time, reports.

All the 22 people on the bus, including a driver, were wounded, and four of them were seriously injured.

Two of the seriously injured were found on the opposite lane of the expressway after being thrown out of the bus due to the impact of the accident.
