Pathankot, April 1, (Raman kalia) : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Monday has apprehended Patawari Yashpal, posted at revenue halqua village Kot, Pathankot district, red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused, who is resident of village Malpur, in Pathankot, has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Sanjiv Sharma, a resident of village Tehari Tika Basa, tehsil Dhar Kalan.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the said accused has demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 from him for endorsing change of ownership of land in his name in revenue records and had already taken Rs 400 in this regard.
The spokesperson said after a preliminary inquiry about this complaint a VB team laid a trap in which accused Patwari was caught red handed while he was accepting Rs 2,000 as second installment of bribe in the presence of two official witnesses.
He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at VB police station Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
