Chandigarh, 30 July
It is with a heavy heart that I, Aryan, write this tribute to my beloved grandmother, whose presence continues to grace my life despite her passing. As her grandson, I was privileged to witness the depth of her love, the wisdom of her words, the warmth of her embrace and her way of scolding me.
Grandma had a unique way of making everyone feel special. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, stories, and an endless supply of homemade treats. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, where every flower bloomed under her care, just as she tended to the hearts of those around her.
She was a very bold and strong lady to the extent that cannot be described in words. All those who know her, have this awareness. Her lessons were simple yet profound. She taught me the importance of kindness, patience, perseverance and hardwork. Through her actions, she demonstrated that true strength lies in gentleness and that love is the greatest legacy one can leave behind.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the memories we cherish and the values she instilled in us. I often find myself recalling her face, her talks, her anger, her warmth, her stories, her laughter and her unwavering support. In moments of doubt, all our family used to take advices from her which were the most precise and to the point, to which no one could contradict. She was a lady with utmost knowledge, both academically and life lessons. In my knowledge, I have been with her for almost 24 years and there was not even a single thing to which I was left unsatisfied from her answer. Throughout, in terms of academics, she taught me science and maths specifically and her vibrant knowledge devoted my mind to gain the true knowledge instead of just ‘studying’. Ofcourse she was super intelligent as she was M.Sc Physics honours from Panjab University, Chandigarh and a retired Principal from Rajpura Senior Secondary School,Punjab. She had a charm to gain knowledge and her degree proves this as she completed her studies at that time when even people rarely used to complete Bachelor’s.
Grandma's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, sacrifice, and joy. She touched many lives and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. As I navigate through life, I strive to honor her legacy by living with the same grace and compassion she exemplified. She left us all on 20 July, 2024 and still everyday a new call is received by us from her well-wishers who are deeply drenched with tears about her leaving us.
To my dearest grandmother, thank you for the endless love you gave and the countless memories we shared. I am honoured to be grandson of Shrimati Nand Rani. I will fulfil all yours wishes which you used to say to me. Although you are gone and there is no point in saying that it was early or not, because I just have this feeling deep down in my heart that I never wanted to be separated from you and live with you forever and always wanted your shadow physically over me by scolding me, teasing me, loving me and many more things. I will miss our long talks, our innocent fights and in total I will miss you Badi amma. I am all puzzled up right now because I am not able to grasp that you are no longer with us. I am still not in a normal state to absorb this. That is why maybe I might be repeating some things over here. Anyways, You may be gone, but your spirit remains a guiding light in my life. I miss you more than words can express, I know that you are watching over me and will always give me your blessings forever. This was not the time Badi amma. I will miss you badi amma. I will love you forever badi amma.
With all my love,
Aryan
