The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) marked the 78th Independence Day of India with vibrant celebrations at its headquarters in Chandigarh and various project sites including Nangal, Sundernagar and Talwara. These events, attended by BBMB employees, their families, and local residents, were a testament to the collective sense of national pride and unity.
The centerpiece of the celebration at the BBMB Board Secretariat in Chandigarh was the flag-hoisting ceremony led by Sh. Manoj Tripathi, Chairman of BBMB. As the national flag was unfurled, the assembly stood together in a salute, honouring the sacrifices of the countless freedom fighters who secured India's independence. The event featured an array of cultural performances by the children of BBMB employees, including patriotic songs, dances and poems. These performances not only celebrated the spirit of freedom but also highlighted India's rich cultural heritage.
In his address, Chairman Sh. Manoj Tripathi reflected on the enduring legacy of India's freedom fighters and reiterated BBMB’s commitment to nation-building. He highlighted the Board’s role in sustainable development, emphasizing the significance
of effective water and power management in the nation's progress. “As we commemorate this significant day, let us reaffirm our dedication to the values of our freedom fighters and strive to contribute to the continued development of our great nation,” he said. He encouraged everyone to remain mindful of their environmental and societal responsibilities and to support the nation’s growth.
Sh. Tripathi also outlined BBMB’s future initiatives, including the establishment of Pumped Storage Projects and Solar Power Projects. These endeavours are aimed at addressing the country’s increasing energy demands and advancing the transition
towards green energy sources. Additionally, he announced the launch of a new web based software for the online booking of BBMB Rest Houses, designed to streamline access for all BBMB employees.
BBMB remains steadfast in its mission to manage water and power resources efficiently while upholding the principles of integrity and excellence. The Independence Day celebrations at BBMB underscore the Board’s commitment to these values and its ongoing efforts to contribute to a brighter future for India.
