August 26, 2024

New Delhi, 26 Aug

The bugle of assembly elections has been sounded in Jammu and Kashmir. Today on Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list for Jammu and Kashmir elections. In this list, names of 15 candidates have been announced for the first phase, 10 for the second phase and 19 candidates for the third phase of voting. It is known that elections are to be held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases.

BJP released its first list of total 44 candidates. The party has fielded Arshid Bhat from Rajpora, Javed Ahmed Qadri from Shopian, Mohammad Rafiq Wani from Anantnag West. Advocate Syed Wajahat will contest from Anantnag, Ms. Shagun Parihar from Kishtwar and Gajay Singh Rana from Doda.

The special thing about this list is that former Deputy CM and former Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Dr. Nirmal Singh has not got the ticket. Nirmal Singh had won from Bilwar assembly seat in 2014. At the same time, former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta has also not got the ticket. However, there is speculation that Kavinder Gupta's name may be announced in the next list. The name of state BJP president Ravindra Raina has also not been announced in this list.

This announcement has been made after the BJP Central Election Committee meeting held on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other members of the committee attended this meeting chaired by JP Nadda. The Election Commission has approved the names of candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections 2024.
