The Punjab Cabinet has taken many important decisions including tax on old vehicles, new education policy

Many important decisions were taken in the Punjab Cabinet meeting. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that in the meeting there was a discussion to bring a new education policy within the Punjab Cabinet. The policy will focus more on skilling the youth and imparting technical education. 2 lakh kids have applied for admission in #SchoolOfEminence this year.

Along with this, the cabinet decided to increase the VAT on petrol and diesel. Petrol is now 62 paise more expensive and diesel is 92 paise more expensive.

Harpal Cheema further explained that, earlier, tax was collected quarterly from old vehicles. Now old vehicles can pay tax even after 1 year. Buyers of new goods vehicles will get a 10% discount if they pay 4 years of tax and 20% if they pay 8 years of tax.

Apart from this, Cheema also said that the OTS-3 scheme of the Mann government has been a complete success, although the OTS-1 and OTS-2 schemes brought during the Congress were FAIL. The benefits of OTS-3 are that, ₹164.35 crore to the Punjab exchequer, benefiting around 70,311 people, the scope of OTS-3 scheme will soon be expanded further.
