Chandigarh, 26 September
If everything goes according to plan, soon PGI North will be the first such hospital for women where female patients will also be admitted to the drug de-addiction center. Until now, drug addiction was seen only with the dead, but now in the changing times, women are also becoming victims. However, the number of women is less than that of men.
The PGI DDTC center now has a facility of 20 beds, which will be increased to 50. There are only a few such government centers in the country, where there are separate facilities for women. Such a facility is no longer present in North India. The main reason for this is that women patients prefer to go to private hospitals more, because there are separate facilities.
Professor Subodh BN says that the additional KDTC of Psychiatry has seen an increase in the number of patients over the past few years. 4 thousand new cases are coming to the center every year. He said that a separate place is felt for PGI women.
There is a need to increase the facility of 20 operational beds in the center to cater to the incoming female patients. Staff, faculty, nurses, support staff are required to start it. We have OPD at the center We are also planning to expand the hospital to provide new treatment facilities.
