Desh Bhagat University celebrated ‘International Chef Day’

International Chef Day was celebrated in Desh Bhagat University today. The School of Hotel Management & Tourism organized a regional cuisine based chef competition on this occasion. Five teams of five students each participated with Punjabi, Rajasthani, Bengali, Karnataka and Bihari regional cuisine based themes. Students not only presented the delicacies of these cuisines but also depicted the culture of these regions. It was tough competition.Team of Sharanpreet Kaur, Amandeep Kaur, Pawandeep Kaur, Amanpreet Kaur, and Jasmeen Kaur representing Punjabi cuisine was the winner of this competition. The winners were awarded medals by Dr. Surjeet Patheja (Director Media and performing arts) and Dr. Parveen Kumar (Controller of Examination).The event was graced by the Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur. Dr. Zora Singh while addressing the students praised the budding chefs and said, “It is the chef who converts food into an experience and happiness.” Dr. Tajinder Kaur wished students on chef day and encouraged them to participate in such competitions. She said, “Winning or losing does not matter but participation does.” The event was coordinated by Dr. Aman Sharma, Director-School of Hotel Management & Tourism and Chef Rinku, Chef Dr. Rupinder Kaur and Hritik Tomar.
