Desh Bhagat University (DBU), a prestigious NAAC A+ accredited institution, has embraced a fully digital system for PhD thesis evaluation, effective from August 1, 2024. This strategic move positions DBU among the forward-thinking universities that are adopting technology to enhance academic efficiency and improve the research experience for scholars. This digital thesis evaluation system by DBU advances the Digital India initiative of the Government of India. The shift to digital evaluation reflects DBU’s commitment to staying at the forefront of educational innovation. As one of the leading institutions for research, DBU has always been dedicated to fostering an environment that supports scholars in producing high-quality, impactful research. The PhD program at DBU is widely popular due to the university’s state-of-the-art research facilities, experienced faculty guides, and extensive student services that encourage and support the research journey. Speaking on this significant development, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, remarked, “Our commitment at DBU is to ensure that scholars have access to the best resources and systems to thrive in their academic pursuits. By adopting digital PhD thesis evaluation, we aim to streamline the process for both students and evaluators. This move aligns with our mission to promote quality research and make the overall process more efficient, environmentally sustainable, and student-friendly. We are confident that this will elevate the standard of research at DBU and further encourage interdisciplinary and need-based research that addresses societal challenges.” The new digital evaluation system offers multiple benefits to both students and examiners. Previously, scholars were required to submit multiple hard copies of their thesis, which was both time-consuming and costly. Now, with the digital submission system in place, the process has become faster, more efficient, and cost-effective. Moreover, this transition reduces the environmental impact of printing and significantly cuts down delays in evaluation. DBU’s initiative ensures that examiners can evaluate theses within a stipulated time frame, making the process more accountable and timely. This not only benefits the scholars, who will now receive quicker feedback, but also the evaluators, as they can review the work conveniently from any location. The digital system further reinforces DBU’s push for interdisciplinary research that has practical applications in real-world scenarios. DBU has always placed a strong emphasis on quality research, encouraging scholars to publish in high-impact journals and engage in studies that contribute to societal well-being. By moving to a digital evaluation platform, the university seeks to make the research process more accessible and efficient, ultimately fostering an environment where innovation and knowledge creation flourish. This transition is yet another example of how DBU continues to lead in the academic domain, ensuring that its scholars have the best possible support and resources to succeed in their research endeavors.
