Desh Bhagat University, renowned for its vibrant cultural festivities, recently hosted a spectacular celebration of Maghi on campus, bringing together students, faculty, and distinguished guests for a day filled with joy and tradition. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Jill Ku Martin, President of the University of North America (UONA), and Kirit Udeshi, Director of Outreach at UONA, who served as the chief guests.The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro Chancellor, who actively participated in the cultural festivities.The chief guests, Jill Ku Martin and Kirit Udeshi, showcased their enthusiasm by actively participating in the traditional Bhangra and Gidda dances, adding a lively and joyous touch to the festivities. Their spirited involvement made the event a memorable occasion for all, leaving an indelible impression on students and attendees alike.Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh said that Maghi, also known as Makar Sankranti in various parts of India, is a significant festival celebrated with great enthusiasm, particularly in Punjab and other northern states. The program highlighted a rich tapestry of traditional Punjabi culture, featuring mesmerizing performances of Bhangra and Gidda, which captivated the audience with their energy and vibrancy. Additionally, students delivered melodious renditions of classic folk songs, further enriching the festive atmosphere. Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President of Desh Bhagat University, extended heartfelt thanks to the chief guests and attendees, acknowledging their contributions to the success of the event.
