The Member of Parliament Kumari Selja writes to Nitin Gadkari regarding Sirsa South Bypass

January 30, 2025

Chandigarh / 30th, January.

The All India Congress Committee General Secretary, former Union Minister, and Member of Parliament from Sirsa, Kumari Selja, wrote a letter to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Nitin Gadkari, regarding the construction of the South Bypass in Sirsa. Selja said that the construction of this bypass will not only relieve Sirsa city from traffic jams but will also ease the movement of vehicles traveling to and from Rajasthan. Additionally, this bypass will later become a part of the Jalandhar-Taranagar highway.

In her letter, MP Kumari Selja said that the proposal for the Southern Bypass has been actively under consideration by the government for several years. Vehicles coming from Hisar, Barnala-Dabwali, Barnala-Mansa, Fatehabad, and heading toward Nohar, Bhadra, Hanumangarh, and from Sirsa to Ellenabad, have to pass through the heart of Sirsa city. This often leads to traffic jams, causing significant inconvenience to both drivers and the general public. Sometimes, even ambulances get stuck in these jams, putting the lives of patients in serious danger. Kumari Selja wrote in her letter that the then Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal, had announced the construction of a mini bypass (South Bypass) from Bajeka (Sirsa) to Jamal (Sirsa) in 2018. The government had also approved a budget of 10 crore rupees for it, but the officials had rejected it in their report. As a result, the issue remains unresolved, and the people of Sirsa continue to face severe difficulties.

Kumari Selja requested the Union Minister to restart the project and approve the proposed South Bypass at the earliest in the public interest, so that the citizens do not face further inconvenience. This project will later become part of the Jalandhar-Taranagar highway.
