Desh Bhagat University Celebrates International Mother Language Day with Expert Insights

Desh Bhagat University celebrated International Mother Language Day with great enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Advisor to the Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh.The event featured renowned expert speakers, including Dr. Darshan Singh Aashat from Punjabi University Patiala, Dr. Gurdish Kaur from Khalsa college Patiala, and Dr. Barinder Kaur, Principal Mata Sundri University College Mansa, who delivered insightful speeches on the significance of mother languages. Prof. Pritam Singh from Oxford University also joined the event virtually and shared his perspectives on linguistic heritage and the global need for language preservation.The expert speakers educated the gathering about the history of mother languages, emphasizing their role in shaping cultural identity, communication, and intellectual growth. They highlighted the necessity of promoting and protecting native languages in an era of globalization.In his address, Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur emphasized the university’s commitment to preserving cultural and linguistic traditions, stating, “A mother language is the foundation of personal and societal identity. It is our responsibility to pass it on to future generations with pride.”
Students from different regions also Northeast India and South Africa spokes on their mother tongues.
The event was meticulously conducted by Dr. Dharminder Singh, Dr. Renu Sharma, Dr. Jyoti Sharma, ensuring seamless coordination of discussions, cultural performances, and interactive sessions. A cultural programme was also presented by the students of the university on this occasion.
