Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Celebrates National Science Day 2025

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, organized a one-day event on National Science Day 2025 under the theme "Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat." The event aimed to inspire young minds and foster a scientific temperament among students.The day was marked by a series of engaging and innovative competitions, including: Quiz, PPT Presentation, Scientific Play, Poster Making, Scientific Rangoli, Best Out of Waste, Working and Non-Working Scientific Models. With an overwhelming response, around 300 students from the University and various institutes, such as, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib enthusiastically participated, showcasing their creativity and scientific acumen.
All the dignitaries and participants were welcomed by Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Head of the Biotechnology Department. Dr. Preet Kaur, Head of the Physics Department, presented a comprehensive report on the proceedings. Prof. Tejbir Singh, Registrar, emphasized on the awareness of the significant contributions of Sikh scientists, namely Dr. Narinder Singh Kapany, S. Kartar Singh Bawa and S. Gurtej Singh Sandhu.This was followed by an inspiring keynote address by Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, who highlighted the significance of National Science Day, observed on February 28 in honour of Sir C.V. Raman’s discovery of the Raman Effect. He encouraged students to pursue their aspirations with dedication and enthusiasm. In his presidential address, Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University, emphasized the crucial role of scientific research and innovation in shaping a developed India. The dignitaries also recognized and motivated the winners of various competitions held during the event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Navdeep Kaur, Dean Research, who expressed gratitude to the university authorities, organizers, and participants for making the event a grand success. She also congratulated the winners for their outstanding performances.The event was successfully organized with the support and contribution of all faculty members, including Dr. Richa Brar, Head of the Mathematics Department; Dr. Rahul Badru, Head of the Chemistry Department; Dr. Charankamal Shekhon, Head of the Zoology Department; Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Incharge of the Agriculture Department; Dr. Rupinderpal Singh, Incharge of the Food Processing and Technology Department; and Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Incharge of the Botany Department. The celebration of National Science Day 2025 at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University successfully ignited scientific curiosity among students and reinforced India's vision for a technologically advanced future.
