April 11, 2025

Barnala/Chandigarh, April 11

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MLA Kulwant Singh Pandori strongly condemned the derogatory remarks made by Khalistan supporter Gurpatwant Pannun against the architect of the Constitution, Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Pandori stated that Pannun is making such statements to provoke the people of Punjab, but he will not succeed. He said that instead of speaking against Dr. Ambedkar, Pannun should study history to understand struggles and achievements of Baba Saheb. He added that anyone who learns about Dr. Ambedkar could never speak such things against him.

On Friday, MLA Kulwant Pandori and Labh Singh Ugoke, along with local party leaders, addressed a press conference in Barnala, where they strongly rebutted Pannun’s statements. Party leader Harinder Singh Dhaliwal was also present during the conference.

While addressing the media, Kulwant Pandori said that Punjab is the land of saints and gurus who have always advocated humanity and equality. He said Sikhism recognizes all individuals as equals, and it is clear that Pannun lacks an understanding of Sikh teachings, which is why he makes such deplorable remarks. He highlighted that Guru Gobind Singh Ji himself referred to the Dalit community as "Rangrete Guru ke Bete".

He emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar is not just a leader for Dalits but is revered by people of all castes and religions in India. Through the Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar ensured rights for Dalits, women, minorities, and all disadvantaged groups. His work on the Constitution is recognized globally. Pandori further stated that Dr. Ambedkar’s followers are not limited to India; they are spread across the world, and speaking against Ambedkar will not diminish his prestige.

The AAP leader asserted that the people of Punjab will not be intimidated by the threats of a fugitive. He announced that on April 14, Baba Saheb’s birth anniversary, all AAP workers and leaders across the state will protect his statues and won't allow any anti-social element to disrespect Baba Saheb.
