Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Celebrates Excellence: Jaswinderpal Singh student of Mathematics Ranks 4th in UPSC

Jaswinderpal Singh, an alumnus of the Department of Mathematics at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib secured All India Rank 4 in the prestigious UPSC Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination. Jaswinderpal completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics from the University and has brought laurels to his alma mater through his dedication and perseverance.The UPSC Indian Statistical Service exam is a highly competitive national-level examination conducted by the UPSC for recruitment to the Indian Statistical Service, a Group ‘A’ administrative service under Central Civil Services of the Indian Government. A special event was organised today to honor Jaswinderpal Singh. Dr. Richa Brar, Head, Department of Mathematics, warmly welcomed all the dignitaries, faculty and students to the event. She conveyed her deep sense of pride and delight at the remarkable achievement of her former student. Highlighting the vital role of dedicated mentorship, a solid academic foundation, and continuous encouragement, she spoke about how these elements significantly contribute to a student’s success. Dr. Brar extended her heartfelt wishes to Jaswinderpal Singh and took the opportunity to share his inspiring journey with the audience. Dr. Pritpal Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, congratulated him for his outstanding accomplishment and applauded his dedication and perseverance. He also encouraged the students to draw inspiration from such success stories and to strive for excellence in their respective fields. Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, also extended his heartfelt wishes and reflected on Jaswinderpal’s time as a student, highlighting his discipline, diligence, and sincere approach towards academics. He also emphasized how achievements like these reflect the academic strength and nurturing environment of the institution. Dr. Billing further added that Jaswinderpal was not only academically sound but also a role model in terms of discipline and consistency — qualities that played a vital role in his success.
Dr. Brehmit Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, also extended her warm wishes. She encouraged students to follow his example of balancing academic excellence with character and discipline. During the event, Jaswinderpal Singh shared his inspiring journey with the audience, giving a glimpse into his preparation strategy, personal challenges, and key moments from the UPSC interview. He also interacted enthusiastically with students, answered their queries, and offered valuable advice.
