WSL: Leanne Kiernan signs new deal with Liverpool

Leanne Kiernan has signed a new contract with Liverpool FC Women. The Irish striker put pen to paper on the deal at the AXA Melwood Training Centre on Wednesday.

By inking fresh terms, the club's second-highest scorer in the Women's Super League era will take her Reds career into its fifth campaign.

"It feels amazing and I'm really excited to get going again. My family are delighted, honestly. It's like a second home for them as well as me and they love it over here. I could actually see myself, after I finish my career, in Liverpool. I feel like they're really enjoying coming over to see me.

"The fans have been unbelievable – really supportive throughout injuries, really supportive by sticking with us and I feel like they've been there for the good times and the bad. Hopefully we'll be able to celebrate with them a lot this year," Kiernan told Liverpoolfc.com.

Credit costs for banks rise in Q1FY26, GNPA improves marginally YoY: Report

The amount of loans disbursed by Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) in India grew 9.5 per cent YoY in Q1FY26, slightly lagging deposit growth at 10.1 per cent, with growth expected to remain moderate ahead, a report said on Wednesday.

The credit cost of SCBs increased by 19 bps YoY, and also a marginal improvement in asset quality was seen for the quarter, with the Gross Non-Performing Asset (GNPA) ratio declining to 2.3 per cent from 2.7 per cent a year earlier, CareEdge Ratings said in its report.

GNPA levels improved by 9.5 per cent YoY to Rs 4.18 lakh crore as of Q1FY26, driven by steady recoveries, upgradations, and write-offs, particularly among Public Sector Banks (PSBs).

The Net Non-Performing Asset (NNPA) ratio held steady even as GNPAs edged up 0.5 per cent sequentially every quarter due to increased slippages in microfinance and unsecured lending segments at select banks.

The first look boasts of grandeur, and blends Shael’s signature romance with Honey Singh’s infectious energy. While Honey Singh brings his trademark swagger, it’s Shael’s commanding presence and timeless voice that sit at the heart of this musical spectacle.

Gardner sees playing in The Hundred as key to pick cues for ODI WC prep

Gardner sees playing in The Hundred as key to pick cues for ODI WC prep

Australia’s off-spin bowling all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner believes playing in this year’s The Hundred is offering a key opportunity to pick up cues on players from other teams ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup, set to happen from September 30 to November 2 in India and Sri Lanka.

"From an opposition point of view, it's probably trying to pick up things off your team-mates or people that you're playing against, little cues that you can take back to your homeland and plan accordingly.

"There's no denying that and there's probably other countries around the world, if you're playing with another international, try and get some things from them or talk to them about, not necessarily their game plan, but just having those off-the-cuff conversations and trying to wrap your head around that because that's so important.

India's renewable sector resilient amid healthy capital structure, adequate liquidity: Report

India’s renewable sector remains resilient as healthy capital structure and adequate liquidity buffers support the sector’s credit profile, a report said on Wednesday.

According to Crisil Ratings, over 60 per cent of wind assets in India lagged their P90 level on average over the last five fiscals, mainly due to lower-than-expected wind speeds, which is a fallout of climate change and regional weather patterns.

"However, this underperformance has been counterbalanced by an increase in the share of solar power in the renewable energy mix to more than 65 per cent in fiscal 2025 from around 50 per cent in fiscal 2020, which has shown better operating performance against P90 benchmark and providing relative steadiness to the operating performance of the sector," Crisil Ratings said in its report.

At least 11 people were killed and 10 were injured in Pakistan's Karachi as heavy downpours flooded major roads, submerged underpasses, and paralysed daily life in the country, according to local media reports.

According to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Inam Haider Malik, the torrential rainfall is likely to continue until Saturday, and another spell is to start by the end of the month.

In Karachi, eleven people lost their lives in rain-triggered incidents, including electrocution and the collapse of concrete structures, reports.

As the city's outdated sewerage and drainage system collapsed in the deluge, daily commuters were left stranded in rising floodwaters during peak hours, while power outages plunged multiple neighbourhoods into darkness, reports.
