Rajasthan: Three scavengers die after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning sewage tanks

Three manual scavengers on Tuesday died of inhaling toxic gas while cleaning sewage tanks in Rajasthan’s Sikar in Fatehpur town.

An official said that a manual scavenger went 20 feet deep to clean a sewage tank and fainted.

“Two of his companions went inside to rescue him but they also fainted after inhaling toxic gas. All three of them were taken out by a police team and were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead,” he said.

He said that the accident took place in the Sardarpura area of Fatehpur in Sikar at around 4:30 pm on Tuesday.

Bihar: EOU conducts raid at NEET UG question paper leak mastermind's residence

Bihar’s Economic Offence Unit (EOU) on Tuesday conducted a raid at the house of Sanjeev Mukhiya in Nalanda, the alleged mastermind behind the NEET UG question paper leak which occurred on May 5.

The raid was part of an ongoing investigation into the case, and Mukhiya has been absconding since the paper leak scandal came to light.

During the raid, a nine-member team from the EOU, led by DSP Sunil Kumar, seized multiple documents and pieces of evidence from Mukhiya's residence.

“The raid began at 10 a.m. and lasted until 4 p.m. We have questioned Mukhiya's family members and conducted a detailed search of the property,” Kumar said.

He added that the collecting materials will be thoroughly examined by EOU.

The Special Operations Group (SOG) police, in coordination with the Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA), exposed a milk adulteration racket operating out of a residential property in Mityala area in Amreli district.

The authorities seized adulterated milk and arrested one suspect, Gunvant Shamji Kalsariya, with materials worth Rs 2.21 lakh.

The low-pressure area developed over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining the north Andaman Sea is likely to intensify into a depression by October 22 morning.

“Continuing to move northwestwards, it is very likely to cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during the night of 24th and early morning 25th October as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph,” informed the India Meteorological Department.

The IMD also issued a red alert predicting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall above 20cm to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack on October 24.

At least half a dozen people are feared to be trapped under the debris after an explosion in a building in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Saturday.

The impact of the explosion was such that the building collapsed completely within a few seconds, turning into debris.

Eyewitnesses told the press that at least four residential buildings located adjacent to the blast site were also damaged badly.

Local area police and district administration were alerted and the rescue operation was underway. According to information, two women were rescued alive and they have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
