Three fishing trawlers with 49 fishermen missing off Bengal, search operations on

Three fishing trawlers, with 49 fishermen on board, have gone missing in the sea off West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, and authorities have mounted a search to locate them and rescue the stranded men.

According to the family members of the missing fishermen, several fishing trawlers left for deep–sea fishing from the Sultanpur fishing harbour in the Diamond Harbour area in South 24 Parganas district on September 10, and were supposed to return on September 15.

However, on Sunday, while the other fishing trawlers returned to the harbour, the three, with 49 fishermen, did not.

Search operations to track the three missing trawlers are already on. Besides search operations through rescue trawlers on the sea, helicopters are also being used for aerial searches.

Karnataka Police detained four minors on Monday for raising a Palestinian flag while riding a bike in Chikkamagaluru district, police sources confirmed. The detained minors are being questioned regarding the incident.

The boys are being asked how they obtained the Palestinian flag and whether they were instructed to ride around the city holding the flag or if they acted on their own.

A police team, headed by an Inspector, has been formed to investigate the incident.

The police department is taking the case seriously and conducting a thorough probe.

In yet another wolf attack in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich, a 13-year-old boy was attacked while sleeping on the terrace of his home.

The boy, identified as Armaan Ali, was attacked on Sunday night in Pipri Mohan village in the Mahsi area. The boy's neck was injured during the attack and was quickly rushed to a nearby Community Health Center for initial treatment before being referred to the Medical College in Bahraich for further care.

This incident follows a series of wolf attacks that have gripped the region.

The Supreme Court is slated to hear on Tuesday a plea filed by low-cost carrier SpiceJet against the Delhi High Court directive requiring the debt-ridden airline to ground three engines over repetitive failures to pay its lessors.

As per the causelist published on the website of the apex court, a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will take up the matter for hearing on September 17.

Last week, SpiceJet mentioned its special leave petition before Chief Justice of India (CJI) D. Y. Chandrachud for an urgent hearing challenging the Delhi High Court’s refusal to interfere with a directive requiring the low-cost carrier to ground three engines.

After polygraph test, CBI has sought permission from a special court in Kolkata to conduct a narco-analysis of Sanjay Roy, the accused in the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital here last month.

According to sources, CBI now wants to match the report of the polygraph test with that of the narco-analysis, provided they get the permission of the court for this.

There is a basic difference between polygraph test and narco-analysis: polygraph, test also popularly known as "lie detector" test measures physiological responses like blood pressure, pulse, and respiration of the person who is being questioned based on the idea that physiological responses of a person are different when they are lying.

The residents of Dariyapur Mandit Tola village in Bihar's Munger district are terrified after a series of animal attacks, which they claim are jackals.

In the past week, around 15 people have fallen victim to jackal bites. The incidents are concentrated in this village, which lies near a forested area under the Haveli Kharagpur block.

As per an India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin issued on Friday, no heavy rain alerts or warnings have been issued for Gujarat till September 19.

All districts in Gujarat are expected to experience light to moderate rain during this time.

The IMD report highlights that the offshore trough at mean sea level currently extends from South Gujarat to the Karnataka coast.

Additionally, a cyclonic circulation over South Gujarat is now positioned over Saurashtra and surrounding areas, between 3.1 and 4.5 kms above mean sea level.
