Zlatan thriving in advisory role, says ‘I does not miss playing football’

Zlatan Ibrahimovic hung up his boots in the summer of 2023, bringing down the curtain on a 24-year playing career. However, the former Sweden striker did not spend too long relaxing, returning to the club in an advisory role under the direction of Milan's new American owners.

After an illustrious career which spanned across decades, Zlatan is content with his new role and claimed he does not miss football anymore.

“Since I accepted not to play anymore, it's OK. I am [at] peace with it. So, that's why I don't miss playing football. What I mean [when I say] I get frustrated and cannot be on the field, it's because of my experience, because of who I am, because of what I am able to do; that is more where I get frustrated. But it's not like I miss playing the game,” said Zlatan to uefa.com.said Zlatan to uefa.com.

2nd Test: Travis Head smashes terrific 140 as Australia’s lead swells to 152 runs

Travis Head smashed a brilliant 140 – his eighth hundred in the format – third on his home ground, as Australia swelled its lead to 152 runs after reaching 332/8 in 85 overs at tea on day two of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

It was a tremendous innings from Head, who mixed his usual free-flowing cuts and pulls with some sumptuous drives while hitting 17 fours and four sixes to Australia firmly in the box seat of the match via his third hundred in day-night Tests.

With Australia having two wickets in hand, their innings might wrap up quickly before their bowlers have a go at Indian batters in the twilight session. The second session began with Head and Mitchell Marsh taking a four each off Bumrah, before the latter tried to defend off a sliding off-break from Ravichandran Ashwin, but nicked it behind to Pant and walked off even before umpire Richard Illingworth raised his finger.

The left-handed batter played a blistering knock of 67 runs off just 36 balls. Suryavanshi became the youngest-ever player to be signed in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after being picked by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore.

India's bowlers set the tone in the semi-final by restricting Sri Lanka to a modest 173 in 47 overs. Chetan Sharma led the attack with three wickets, while Kiran Chormale and Ayush Mhatre chipped in with two wickets apiece.

Chasing 174, Suryavanshi wasted no time in dismantling Sri Lanka’s bowling attack. His fearless intent was evident as India smashed 31 runs in the second over, setting the stage for an emphatic chase.

Nick Kyrgios secures Australian Open comeback with protected ranking

Nick Kyrgios is set to make a much-anticipated return to the Australian Open via a protected ranking, nearly two years after his last professional appearance.

Kyrgios, 29, has already begun his comeback preparations, with plans to feature in Abu Dhabi's new World Tennis League exhibition event and the Brisbane International before hitting the courts at the Australian Open.

Tournament director Craig Tiley confirmed that Kyrgios would have been offered a wildcard had his protected ranking not been an option.

Arsenal doubled their lead in similar fashion, this time from the opposite side when Bukayo Saka’s back-post delivery was headed back across by Thomas Partey, with William Saliba providing the finishing touch.

Kai Havertz almost put the hosts further in front but was thwarted by Onana, with substitute Mikel Merino nearly scoring from another corner moments later.

BGT 2024-25: Lyon expects Marsh to bowl in Adelaide Test

Veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon said he is confident of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh bowling for Australia in the upcoming pink-ball Test against India, starting in Adelaide Oval on December 6. He added that if needed, he can take up extra bowling workload coming his way.

"I honestly think we'll see Mitch Marsh bowl. I'm not concerned about Bison's (Marsh's) fitness if I'm being honest. He's been brilliant for us in the games (since) he's come back in ... I've got full confidence in Bison, happy to bowl his overs. I'm very clear on my role within the team so nothing really changes with me. If I get the opportunity to bowl more overs I'll jump at it," said Lyon to reporters on Wednesday.

He expects the Adelaide pitch, loaded with 6mm grass, will provide help for spinners as the Test goes on. With Australia aiming to square the series after losing to India by 295 runs at Perth, Lyon is optimistic about the hosts’ putting up a better show in Adelaide.

England name unchanged XI for Wellington Test against New Zealand

England name unchanged XI for Wellington Test against New Zealand

England have named an unchanged playing eleven for their second Test against New Zealand, set to begin at Basin Reserve in Wellington on December 6. England had won the first Test at Hagley Oval in Christchurch after beating New Zealand by eight wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

It means that vice-captain Ollie Pope will continue to be England's stand-in wicketkeeper for the second Test, with left-handed batter Jacob Bethell retaining his number three spot. Pope was solid in his wicketkeeping and hit 77 after shifting down to number six.

On the other hand, Bethell hit a rocking unbeaten fifty off 37 balls to finish England’s chase of 104 in 12.4 overs. Despite uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Ollie Robinson joining the team after Jordan Cox was ruled out due to a broken finger, England have resisted temptation to change the winning combination.

Jaker Ali's counter-attacking 91 in the second innings set the West Indies a target of 287 before left-arm spinner Taijul Islam ripped through the West Indian batting order with a five-wicket haul to seal the win.

Experienced spinner Taijul was the hero as claimed 5-50, his 15th five-wicket haul in Tests, on an absorbing fourth day as the West Indies were bowled out for just 185 in their second innings to allow Bangladesh record their first Test triumph in the Caribbean since July of 2009.

"It's a great feeling to win a Test match abroad which we don't often do and all the boys really put in a tremendous effort," Player of the Match Taijul said.
