Chandigarh, 04.04.2025:
Today, the Chandigarh NSS Cell organized the State NSS Award Function at PG Govt. College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh.
Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Education, Chandigarh Administration, UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest during the function. Mr. Jai Bhagwan, Regional Director NSS, Chandigarh, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GOI was Guest of Honor and Sh. Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, Director School Education Chandigarh Administration was Special Guest.
During the event, Dr. Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer NSS UT Chandigarh highlighted the achievements of NSS in last one year. Chief Gust, Ms. Prerna Puri, felicitated two NSS Units, 14 NSS Programme officers and 21 NSS volunteers for meritorious community services. Each NSS Unit and Programme officer was awarded with Trophy, Certificate and Cash Award of Rs 10,000. Each NSS volunteer was awarded with Medal, Certificate and cash award of Rs 5000. 3 NSS Programme officers and 10 NSS Volunteers were honoured with Appreciation Certificate.
Ms. Prerna Puri, Secretary Education congratulated the awardees and appreciated the efforts of Chandigarh NSS Cell. She acknowledged the contribution of NSS Programme officers and volunteers who selflessly serve the society and humanity with motto “Not Me But You”. NSS Volunteers have significant role in character building and nation building and every student should take part in NSS activities.
During the event, NSS volunteers of PGGCG-42 performed Himachali Nati; GMSSS-38 West performed NSS Song; and GMSSS-MHC-Sector-13 performed Haryanvi Dance.
Present during the occasion were Director Higher Education Sh. Rubinderjeet Singh Brar, Additional Director Higher Education Ms. Richa Ratti, and Former SLO Sh. Bikaram Singh Rana. 800 NSS Volunteers, 150 Programme officers and 80 Principals attended the function.
