The Department of Computer Science at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, organized a one-day seminar on “Smart Tech, Safer Lives: Cancer Awareness and Care.” The event focused on the transformative role of information technology in enhancing cancer awareness, facilitating early detection, and advancing treatment—ultimately contributing to safer and healthier lives. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Jaspinder Kaur, Consultant – Radiation Oncology, Cancer Centers of America, Ludhiana. Drawing from over a decade of experience at premier institutions including Artemis Hospital (Gurgaon), CMC Ludhiana, and Government Medical College (Patiala), Dr. Kaur provided a comprehensive session covering what is cancer, the Importance of cancer awareness, key facts, common signs and symptoms, and an insightful overview of how modern technologies are revolutionizing cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment. The seminar was conducted under the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Navdeep Kaur, Head of the Department of Computer Science. The event was coordinated by AssistantProfessos Dr. Kiran Preet Kaur and Jaskirat Kaur. They thanked Dr. Pritpal Singh, the Vice Chancellor of the University, whose commitment to interdisciplinary learning continues to shape the academic fabric of the university. Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, in his address highlighted the critical need to merge technological innovation with societal well-being. The event was also graced by the presence of Dr. Tejbir Singh (Registrar) and Dr. Ankdeep Kaur (IQAC Coordinator).
