Huge narcotics haul seized in Myanmar

Myanmar authorities have seized large amounts of narcotic drugs in the regions of Mandalay and Sagaing, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) reported.

The confiscated narcotics included over 150 kg heroin, over 5 million stimulant tablets, 412 kg ICE (methamphetamine) and 3 tonnes of caffeine, news agency reported.

On November 5, authorities seized 51.03 kg heroin, 3 tonnes of caffeine, 5.51 million stimulant tablets and 412 kg ICE in Kale township of Sagaing region.

On November 6, another 13.2 kg heroin was seized in Kale township and 89.8 kg heroin was seized in Chanmyathazi township of Mandalay region, the CCDAC said.

Maoists kill two villagers in Telangana on suspicion of being police informers

Maoists have hacked to death two persons on suspicion of them being police informers in Telangana's Mulugu district.

The incident occurred late on Thursday night.

The Maoists, belonging to the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), resorted to the action in Penugolu Colony in Wajedu mandal headquarters.

The victims were identified as Uika Ramesh and a local resident Uika Arjun. Ramesh was the secretary of Peruru Gram Panchayat in the same mandal.

A group of Maoists attacked the duo with sharp-edged weapons, resulting in their death on the spot.

A youth was arrested on the charges of sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl in the Baranga area of Odisha's Cuttack on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Kailash Sonar, a resident of Singhbhum district in Jharkhand.

Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena said, "A case has been registered under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Baranga Police station in connection with the sexual abuse of the minor girl on Tuesday night."

"After getting information about the crime, we formed three teams. As both the victim and accused's families hail from Jharkhand, we sent a team to Jharkhand suspecting that the accused might escape to the neighbouring state," Meena said.

In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old teacher was brutally stabbed to death in a classroom in the Mallipattinam Government School in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur district by a man whose marriage proposal she had rejected.

The teacher identified as Ramani had been teaching at the school for the past four months. She was attacked in her classroom by Madhankumar (30), a former lover.

According to police, Madhankumar entered the classroom while Ramani was teaching and stabbed her in the neck with a knife.

Despite immediate efforts by school staff and students to rush her to a nearby hospital, Ramani was declared dead on arrival.

Both Ramani and Madhankumar belonged to the same village and community, located near the school.

The Border Security Force (BSF) claims to have arrested a civil engineer and seized 50 gold biscuits from his possession in the North 24-Parganas district of West Bengal.

“Acting on specific intelligence inputs, troops of 5 Bn BSF, posted at the Tentulberia Border Outpost, carried out a search in the Anchalpara village. The village is located about 2,700 metres behind the BOP. On spotting the BSF troops, a man attempted to flee through the back door of his house. Despite warnings, he attempted to break through the BSF cordon, till a jawan fired a blank round in the air. The man panicked and gave up,” said N K Pandey, DIG and spokesperson, South Bengal Frontier, BSF.

Six Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in India were arrested in the Chitradurga district, and fake documents, including a passport and Aadhaar cards, were seized from them, police said on Tuesday.

The arrested were identified as Sheikh Saifur Rohaman, Mohammed Suman Husen, Majharul, Sonawar Hossain, Muhammad Sakib Sikdar and Azizul Shaik.

The accused were arrested when they were moving suspiciously on the night of November 18. The police were conducting night patrolling near Arvind Garments and White Washan Garments on Holalkere Road

Bihar: Seven police personnel arrested in liquor case

Seven police personnel, including the in-charge of the Anti-Liquor Task Force (ALTF), Home Guard jawans, and a driver, were arrested in Bihar's Vaishali district for their involvement in a liquor-related case following directives from Vaishali Superintendent of Police (SP) Har Kishor Rai.

The arrested officers, who were part of the Anti-Liquor Task Force (ALTF), are now facing legal proceedings, as a case has been registered against them.

The arrests were made after a joint raid led by Mahua SDPO Saurabh Suman and Mahua police, acting on SP Rai's instructions.

During the raid, authorities recovered a substantial quantity of alcohol from the residences of the ALTF officials. The seizure included 32 litres of country-made liquor and one bottle of Indian-made foreign liquor.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) teams, who had been conducting marathon raid and search operations at multiple locations in and around Kolkata since Thursday morning in connection with a multi-crore alleged financial fraud and money laundering through lottery tickets, have been able to track huge unaccounted cash from the residence of a businessman at Lake Market in south Kolkata.

Sources said that the ED officials, on Friday morning, brought a currency counting machine from a nearby bank branch in order to count the cash recovered.

As per the last information available, currency notes amounting to Rs 3 crore have been counted and the process of counting is still on.

Sources aware of the development said that there is a possibility that cash might be hidden at another location where simultaneous raid and search operations have been on since Thursday.

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted a joint operation at Porbandar, resulting in the seizure of 500 kgs of illegal drugs on Friday.

The operation, which began late on Thursday night, took place along the Porbandar beach and extended into the early hours of Friday.

According to officials, the NCB's Delhi team had received Intelligence about a boat carrying a large quantity of drugs heading toward Porbandar in Gujarat's coastal waters. Acting on this crucial tip-off, security agencies launched an operation that successfully intercepted the vessel and confiscated the drugs.

Three die in Bihar; police suspect consumption of spurious alcohol killed them

In a suspected case of consumption of illicit alcohol, three persons lost their lives within hours of being hospitalised in Bihar’s Siwan district, police said on Friday.

Ajit Kumar Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Lakri Nabiganj police station, said that no conclusions can be drawn on the cause of death till postmortem reports are available.

The victims, all residents of Lakri Nabiganj village, were admitted to Sadar Hospital in Siwan on Thursday evening.

“We received information about the incident on Friday morning and dispatched a team to the hospital to gather further information,” SHO Singh said.

The unusual nature of the deaths has alarmed the police even as sources suggested that the victims might have consumed spurious alcohol.
