Man claims to have killed two-year-old niece in Kerala, probe on

A man has claimed that he killed his two-year-old niece by throwing her into a well in the state capital city suburbs on Thursday.

"The local police station was alerted by the family that the girl was missing since morning. A team rushed to the spot to investigate. Noticing the lid over the well partly open, the team grew suspicious and sought help from the Fire Force. They arrived and fished out the body of the infant from the well," police said.

Later, the post-mortem revealed that the kid died due to drowning and there were no other injury marks on her body.

All four family members, the victim's parents, uncle and grandmother were questioned during which police did not find uniformity in their statements.

The Rajasthan Police, under the state-wide Operation Cyber Shield initiated by the Police Headquarters, have arrested five accused who were working as a gang in a large-scale cyber fraud.

They created fake firms, opened fraudulent bank accounts in their names, and conducted transactions worth Rs 26 crore through these mule accounts.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Arshad Ali said that during the operation, authorities seized 60 passbooks and chequebooks from various banks, 32 ATM and debit cards, 11 mobile phones, eight SIM cards, seven fake rubber stamps, and multiple bank-related documents

Hyderabad police nab 52 cyber fraudsters including four bank officials

The Cyber Crimes unit of Hyderabad city police have arrested 52 cyber fraudsters, including four bank officials, in an operation conducted in various parts of the country.

Seven teams had swept out across various states, including Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, and Telangana to apprehend the accused.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner C. V. Anand said this operation resulted in the arrest of 52 accused persons, including three key masterminds. The operation led to the detection of 33 major cases by the Cybercrime Police Station. The total fraud amount involved in these cases was over Rs 88.32 crore.

The personnel of Manikchak Police Station in Malda district of West Bengal on Friday have arrested a civic volunteer attached to the same police station on charges of raping a woman who had been sick for quite some time.

As per a complaint filed by the victim’s parents, as the condition of the woman suddenly became serious on Thursday evening, her family members sought the help of the accused civic volunteer, also staying in the same locality, for assistance.

The accused, as per the complaint, claiming to be an expert in “spiritual healing”, asked the victim’s mother to collect water from a nearby river.

When the victim's mother stepped out of the home to collect water, the accused, finding the house empty, allegedly raped the victim.

The Telangana government has decided to entrust to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) the investigation into a kidney racket that was busted three days ago at a private hospital in Saroornagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha on Friday issued orders handing over the case to the CID.

Rachakonda police have reportedly arrested eight accused in the racket that was uncovered at Alakananda Hospital in Saroornagar in Rangareddy district on January 21. Special teams constituted by Rachakonda police were already looking for accused in various states.

Police in Kerala's Kottayam have launched a probe into the shocking incident of the forcible removal of clothes and "brutal torture" of a Class 9 student by his classmates, officials said.

The incident took place at the St Thomas School, Pala, in Kottayam district on January 10.

The boy was overpowered by two of his classmates and a few others started to remove his clothes and then, tortured him.

When the incident was going on, the entire sequence of events was captured on a mobile and trouble began after this video was put out in public domain.

Rajasthan Police on Friday arrested two accused for drug smuggling in Jhalawar and seized 706 grams of MDMA valued at approximately Rs 3 crore in the international market.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Richa Tomar said that a special campaign is underway across the district to combat drug smuggling and apprehend offenders.

A team led by ASP Chinraji Lal Meena, under the supervision of CO Bhawanimandi Prem Kumar and SHO Ramesh Chand Meena, set up a checkpoint at the Julmi intersection in the Pipaliya area on Thursday night.

During the operation, a suspicious loading auto was stopped. The vehicle was being operated by two individuals, Mohan Bagri (50), a resident of Bagri Mohalla, Thana Dag, and Dilip Singh (43), a resident of Bhavsar Mohalla, Thana Dag.

A Special CBI court in Ahmedabad sentenced two accused, including a surveyor of an insurance company, to five years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) with a fine of Rs 17.2 lakh for fraudulent claims of Rs 9 lakh, an official said on Friday.

Those sentenced to jail included Hasan Abu Soni, a partner in Marks Chemical and S.R.J Associates, and Sanjay Ramesh Chitre, surveyor/loss assessor, said the official in a statement.

The CBI registered the case on January 30, 2003, against the then Senior Divisional Manager of New India Assurance Co. Ltd. (NIACL), Divisional Office, Navsari, along with the convicts.

A jilted lover has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody on the charges of stabbing a paramedical technician who refused to marry him in J. J. Nagar locality of Bengaluru.

DCP (West) S. Girish said that the accused, identified as 29-year-old Ajay, has been booked under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

"Ajay and the 23-year-old woman, who were in a relationship had parted ways. However, Ajay continued pestering the victim to rekindle their relationship," he said.

As the woman ignored his advances and flatly refused his proposal, Ajay stabbed her on January 12, DCP Girish said.
