Fake cancer drugs racket busted in Delhi, Syrian national among 4 arrested

With the arrest of four persons, including a Syrian national, the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch on Thursday claimed to have busted an international syndicate involved in manufacturing and supplying fake cancer/diabetes medicines in a two-month long operation. The official said that the Syrian national, Monir Ahamd (54), used to supply medicines between Turkey, Egypt and India.

A man was shot at by two bike-borne assailants in Delhi’s Old Seemapuri area, an official said on Wednesday, adding that they have identified two accused and further manhunt has been initiated to nab them. Sharing the details, police said that at 12:30 a.m. a police control room (PCR) call was received regarding firing in B- Block Old Seemapuri following which a police team rushed to the spot. Upon reaching the spot, the injured identified as Kaif, was already shifted to GTB hospital. “Kaif stated that he along with his friends Irfan and Suhail were sitting in the street, suddenly two boys on a bike came there and started hurling abuses and started firing,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary.

Delhi Police has arrested a 27-year-old man, who was wanted for allegedly killing a woman in the Samaypur Badli area, an official said on Tuesday. The accused was identified as Pramod a.k.a Podi, a resident of Samaypur Badli. Police said that on January 21 this year, Pramod along with co-accused, had killed a woman who was their neighbour.

Two staffs of a ‘club’ from the beach area of Calangute in North Goa were arrested late at night on Sunday, after they allegedly looted a tourist from Gujarat, police said. Calangute Police Inspector Paresh Naik informed that one Patel Bhavinkumar, 35, from Sabarkantha, Gujarat, had lodged a complaint stating that accused persons with their common intention got him to enter the club by offering various illegal services, and further extorted Rs 44,000 from him. “The accused owner of the club and his staff, namely Varun Prajapati, Candan Ghadhai and others, extorted money from the complainant. We have taken action by arresting the staff of the club,” police said.

A polling agent of the Janata Dal (United) was killed by unidentified persons in Bihar’s Nalanda district on Monday. The family members of the deceased claimed that election enmity could be the reason for the murder and have pointed fingers at the opposition party leaders. The victim had been receiving threatening calls ever since he became the polling agent of JD(U). The incident took place in the Maua village of Parbalpur police station area. UP man killed during birthday bash, family alleges murder

A 24-year-old man was killed during celebratory firing at a birthday party in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar. The incident happened on Tuesday evening. The family of the victim, Sandeep Paswan, 24, however, has alleged that it was a ‘premeditated murder’. Police have registered a case of murder against 11 people, including five unidentified present at the birthday bash. Police stated that all possible hideouts of the named accused are being raided and arrests will be made soon. Ashutosh Singh, SHO of the Tarya Sujan area, said an FIR has been registered in the case and a probe is being conducted.
