Karnataka Police arrested a madrasa in-charge in Bengaluru on Thursday on charges of misusing his position and brutally assaulting young girls studying at the institution over minor mistakes.

The incident was reported from the Kottanur police station limits on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Hassan.

According to police, Hassan ran a madrasa in Thanisandra, Bengaluru, and CCTV footage of the inhumane assault has gone viral on social media.

Authorities stated that Hassan's sister worked as the principal of the madrasa, and the assault took place in her presence, along with other staff members.

The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch has arrested two individuals from Maharashtra for allegedly hacking and distributing CCTV footage of women undergoing medical check-ups at a hospital in Rajkot. The accused reportedly shared the footage via a Telegram channel.

Investigators revealed that the breach was carried out using the hospital’s IP address. The arrested individuals will soon be brought to Gujarat for further questioning.

Officials said that the suspects were arrested from different districts in Maharashtra. They had previously been involved in distributing explicit videos through similar means. The ongoing investigation aims to identify others linked to the cybercrime operation. The probe was initiated after videos of women undergoing gynaecological treatments surfaced on Telegram and a YouTube channel named MeghaMbbs -m5j.

The content was traced back to Payal Maternity Home in Rajkot, a hospital established in 1998 that has reportedly conducted over 37,000 deliveries and 21,000 surgeries.

The Crime branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police, on Tuesday, arrested a former bank manager with four other persons in an alleged multi-crore loan scam, officials said.

A crime branch statement said that a case was registered in 2023 on a written complaint from Mohammad Shakeel, the chief manager of the supervision and control division of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank's Jammu zonal office.

"The complainant alleged that Saleem Yousuf Bhatti, a contractual employee of the Integrated Watershed Management Programme, Poonch, and others got the inactive accounts of the watershed committee in the bank's Lassana branch in Surankote activated."

The Karnataka Cybercrime police have cracked a law exam question paper leak racket and arrested a three-member gang, including the Vice Principal of a law college. The accused have confessed to committing the crime for monetary gains.

The exams were being conducted in law colleges affiliated with the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU). On January 23, question papers scheduled for that day were leaked on Telegram and WhatsApp groups, causing distress among students.

Following this development, an associate professor from SJM Law Maha Vidyalaya and the Chairman of KSLU’s Vigilance Committee-2 filed a complaint at the Cybercrime, Economic Offences, and Narcotics (CEN) police station.

After registering the complaint, the police used technical analysis and intelligence gathering to trace the leak of the Contract Law-1 question paper to a Telegram group. One of the accused, a law student, was picked up from his residence in Anekal, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, on January 30.

In a shocking incident, a 10-year-old boy named Kshitij was kidnapped and brutally murdered in Jharkhand's Latehar district. The accused, identified as Chandrakishore Yadav, a policeman, has been arrested in connection with the heinous crime, officials said.

The tragic event unfolded when Kshitij mysteriously disappeared from his home at 8 p.m. on Sunday. The following day, his mutilated body was discovered in the bushes behind Netarhat Hospital. The boy had been subjected to extreme brutality -- both of his eyes were gouged out, his arm was broken in several places, and he had been stabbed multiple times in the abdomen and neck with a sharp weapon.

Kshitij's father, Prabhat Kumar, a bus agent and grocery shop owner, had a prior dispute with Chandrakishore Yadav. This altercation occurred when Yadav was undergoing training at the police's Junglewar Fair School in Netarhat. Following the training, Yadav was sent back to Bokaro.

A retired state government employee fell victim to cybercriminals and was robbed of Rs 10 lakh after being digitally arrested for 12 days in Karnataka's Yadgir district, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the victim officer retired from the Krishna Jal Bhagya Nigam Limited (KJBNL) at the Upper Krishna Project (UKP) camp in Shahapur taluk. She has complained to the Cybercrime, Economic Offences, and Narcotics (CEN) police station in Yadgir.

According to police, the victim got a video call from the cybercriminals who posed as the Mumbai Crime Branch Officers. The victim was told that a money laundering case was registered against her in connection with the crime she committed along with criminal Naresh Goyal.

The victim was asked to immediately share her bank accounts, bank passbooks, Aadhaar card, and PAN card details for verification failing which she would face legal action. Felling into their trap, the victim sent her all records and documents.

After getting all the details, the accused claimed that the main accused in the case, Naresh Goyal, had been arrested.

In a broad daylight bank heist, a man armed with a knife stormed into the Federal Bank branch at Pota, near Chalakudy, Thrissur, around 2:15 p.m. on Friday and made off with approximately Rs 15 lakh after threatening the bank staff.

According to eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage, the suspect arrived on a two-wheeler, wearing a helmet, a jacket, and carrying a shoulder bag. He parked in front of the bank before entering the premises.

Once inside, he brandished a knife at the staff, forcing them into a cabin before proceeding to break the glass panes of the cash counter using a chair. He then took the cash stored in the counter’s cash box and fled the scene.

A shopkeeper near the bank stated that the incident took place around 2 p.m, but the robbery only came to light when bank employees managed to raise an alarm.

Six workers died and 25 others were injured in a fire at a hotel construction site in South Korea's southeastern port city of Busan on Friday, authorities said.

The fire started at the Banyan Tree hotel under construction at approximately 10:50 a.m., presumably from insulating material loaded near a swimming pool on the first floor of one of the three buildings on the site, according to the Busan firefighting headquarters.

The flames were mostly extinguished by around 1:30 p.m., firefighters said.

The number of arrests in the Karnataka police station attack case rose to 16 on Friday while 1,000 people were booked in this connection, police sources said.

Police sources said that many more arrests are likely as the identity and locations of the accused persons were being tracked. The accused have disappeared leaving behind their mobile phones at their residences.

The arrested accused are remanded to the judicial custody.

The police identified over 100 accused persons through CCTV footage and launched a hunt for them.

A young girl was brutally hacked to death by her father and two brothers in Jharkhand's Koderma district for having a love affair against their wishes.

The accused later buried her body in the sand along the banks of a river to conceal the crime, police said on Thursday.

The incident occurred on February 2 in Bhagwatidih village under Markachcho police station limits.

The horrific crime came to light more than ten days later when local shepherds grazing their cattle near the Panchkhero River noticed something unusual -- a decomposed hand protruding from the sand, partially eaten by animals. Alarmed by the sight, they immediately informed the police.
