Nigeria: Nine civil guards killed in gunmen attack

At least nine provincial security operatives keeping guard in a local community were recently killed in an ambush by a group of gunmen in Nigeria's state of Zamfara.

Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara, said in a statement that the civil guards operating under the state's Community Protection Guards scheme were gunned down by the gunmen who laid an ambush for them at a security checkpoint on the outskirts of Tsafe, a town in the Tsafe local government area.

"The bandits' ambush on our guards is a cowardly act, as they were dispersed and on the run due to sustained troops' onslaught across the state," Lawal said of the incident, news agency reported.

Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has arrested two youths who defrauded a person to the tune of Rs 10.61 crore in the name of an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) Department, officials said.

The accused were apprehended in Bengaluru and brought to Hyderabad following their involvement in a complex digital arrest scam, TGSCB Director Shikha Goel said on Tuesday.

The accused were identified as Vinay Kumar S. Khadke, 23, and Maruthi G.H., 28, both residents of Bengaluru.

A Hyderabad resident had filed a complaint last month, stating that he was contacted by individuals posing as Mumbai Police.

The fraudsters falsely claimed that a bank account had been opened using the victim's Aadhaar and PAN and that it was implicated in money laundering activities.

Youth wanted in rape case found dead in MP

A 24-year-old Dalit youth, wanted in a rape case, was found dead at an isolated place in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, with gunshot injuries on Tuesday.

The police had been searching for him since Monday after the accused allegedly shot dead the girl's grandfather in a fit of rage.

The deceased has been identified as Bhola Ahirwar. Police said preliminary investigation suggests it is a suicide case as he left a message on his social media account claiming that he was being implicated in the rape case.

Police said the investigation is being carried out from all possible angles, however, prima facie it appears a suicide case.

According to police, Ahirwar had barged into the house of the rape victim on Monday, and opened fire, killing the victim’s grandfather. The girl, 17, (rape victim) had lodged a complaint against Ahirwar two months ago, accusing him of raping her.

A gem artist living in the Varachha area here hung himself to death at his residence on Tuesday. His family said that the diamond company he worked for withheld a bonus and that led him to take the extreme step.

The Varachha police have launched an investigation into the matter.

The deceased, identified as Ram Nagina Singh, was employed at Asian Star Diamond Company. According to the family, Singh had been under significant stress for two days after the company informed him that no bonus would be provided due to the ongoing recession in the diamond industry. The family alleged that this financial pressure and denial of the bonus drove him to take this fatal step.

Rajasthan Cyber Cell’s Sub Inspector (SI) and six policemen were suspended on Tuesday on charges of tracing the location of Bhiwadi city SP Jyeshtha Maitrey’s mobile number.

An official said that the case is now being investigated by Police Headquarters which was reported from Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi Cyber Cell.

Meanwhile, SP Maitrey suspended all cops when she came to know about it.

"I did not expect that the officers and employees of my own department would disappoint me in this way. I have been doing my work honestly. I had no idea that the policemen of my department were tracing my location from my mobile and keeping an eye on my activities," said SP Jyeshtha Maitrey.

Afghan security forces have rescued a child from kidnappers in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province, and arrested four kidnappers, including two women, the provincial police spokesman said on Tuesday.

The child, who was kidnapped in Spin Boldak district, southern Kandahar province, was rescued in Lashkar Gah city, the provincial capital of Helmand province, and the kidnappers demanded $50,000 in ransom for his release, Mullah Ezatullah Haqqani, spokesman for the provincial police, told.

The Afghan security forces, after identifying the location of the kidnappers, launched a special operation and rescued the child, Haqqani asserted as reported by news agency.

Madhya Pradesh Police on Monday said they have arrested a third suspect, Harish Anjana, in connection with a drug case and handed him to Gujarat ATS for further interrogation.

He was arrested in Mandsaur district, around 350 km from Bhopal. Mandsaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Anand said the Gujarat ATS team had sought co-operation in the matter, subsequently, the action was taken.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Anjana had been booked for charges of drug supply in Mandsaur and Gwalior in the past. "During a brief interrogation, Anjana has revealed the name of one more suspect Prem Patidar, and we will arrest him soon," Anand told the media.

Bihar Police in Saran took strict action against cops of the Doriganj police station by suspending six police personnel, including an inspector-rank officer, following graft charges.

The officers, including Station House Officer (SHO) Rahul Ranjan and Tej Narayan Singh, Ajesh Kumar Singh, Srujan Mishra, Deendayal Rai, Prabhanjan Kumar, and Chowkidar Suman Manjhi. They have been accused of accepting bribes from overloaded trucks transporting illegal sand and allowing them to pass through their jurisdiction.

In addition to the suspension, the remaining 12 officers stationed at Doriganj have been ordered to report to the district police lines.

SP Saran has also sought explanations from all 18 personnel involved and initiated the process of transferring them to other stations.

Cyberabad Police have issued a lookout notice against YouTuber Harsha Sai, who is allegedly involved in sexual assault on a Mumbai-based actress.

A case was registered against him last month at Narsingi Police Station on a complaint filed by the victim, who also alleged that he tried to blackmail her by taking her nude pictures and videos.

Intensifying the probe into the case, the police have issued a lookout notice against the accused.

On September 24, Narsingi Police had booked Harsha Sai for allegedly raping and blackmailing the actress with nude pictures and videos for money.

The 25-year-old actress had appeared in a reality show on television and played a female lead along with Harsha Sai in a movie released a year ago.

Dahod rape-murder case: Gujarat Police file 1,700-page charge sheet

Gujarat Police on Thursday filed a 1,700-page charge sheet in the court against the school principal who was arrested for the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Dahod.

The charge sheet was prepared in a record of ten days. It includes the testimony of 150 witnesses and incorporates advanced forensic evidence, according to Minister of State for Home Affairs Harsh Sanghvi.

On September 23, the six-year-old Class 1 student in Dahod district was choked to death, allegedly by her school's principal, after she resisted his attempts to assault her sexually. He then dumped her body in the school's compound and her bag and shoes near the classroom.

The police used cutting-edge forensic techniques, including digital evidence, forensic DNA analysis, and forensic biological analysis, to build a solid case against the accused, 55-year-old Govind Natt.

Forensic experts utilized epithelial cells found at the crime scene to confirm the accused’s involvement through DNA testing. These microscopic cells recovered from physical contact during the crime played a key role in linking the suspect to the crime.
