DBU Organised Guest Lecture on “Developing Soft Skills and Confidence Building”

 

The Department of Commerce and Management of Desh Bhagat University, organised a guest lecture on “Developing Soft Skills and Confidence Building” during the Student Induction Programme. In the beginning of the program Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Management and Commerce welcomed Dr. Baljeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University as guest speaker and Dr. Rajni Saluja, Head, Department of Commerce and Management. While introducing Dr. Manpreet Kaur said that Dr. Baljeet Kaur is a gold medalist and Roll of Honour awardee of Punjabi University, Patiala. She has more than a decade of teaching and research experience and has more than 20 research papers published in journals of national and international repute. Five of her research papers are published in esci indexed journals and she even has a book chapter published under Routledge Publications. She has also read a number of papers in International, National seminars, conferences and webinars.In her lecture, Dr. Baljeet Kaur elaborated upon various components of soft skills like leadership skills, empathy, listening skills, time management, stress management and communication skills. She also talked about the significance of positive body language and gave students various tips and tricks to help them develop positive body language and to groom their overall personality. She also discussed some seminal interview questions and suggested some strategies for gaining success in their future interviews. At the end of the event Dr. Rajni Saluja, Head of Department gave a formal vote of thanks. She said that the session proved to be a massive success and gained positive feedback from students as well as faculty members. She congratulated the Department for organising such a fruitful event and hoped to organise many such academic events in the future as well. On this occassion Avtar Singh, Assistant Director Media, Dr. Baldeep Singh Assistant Professor, Sunny Suryavashi Assistant Professor, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Assistant Professor, Manmeet Singh, Assistant Professor were present in the program.
