The police of Chandigarh's Sector-31 police station have arrested a young man on the charge of raping a minor girl. In this case, a case has been registered under the sections of POCSO Act and rape. The accused has been identified as Rahul, who works in Industrial Area Phase-II Chandigarh.
The incident took place when the minor girl went to Rahul's office to hang out with her friend and the young man. It is being told that on July 29, the victim girl met her friend and Raj Kumar alias Raj near the Shiva temple in Hallomajra. The trio decided to stay out and hang out all night. Rajkumar took her to his friend Rahul's office in Industrial Area Phase-II. At night, everyone had dinner at Rahul's office, after which the victim's friend went downstairs to sleep, while the victim stayed there.
At the same time accused Rahul started molesting the minor taking advantage of the opportunity. The minor tried to save herself and screamed, but Rahul forced and threatened her. After this incident, the victim told the whole thing to her mother.
Acting immediately on the mother's complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused under sections of the POCSO Act and rape. The statement of the minor was recorded before the magistrate under section 164. After this, the police arrested the accused Rahul and produced him before the duty magistrate, from where he was sent to jail. The police are further investigating the case and have started probing other possible facts.
