Punjab Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill 2024 has been approved by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. After the governor's approval, the government can now hold panchayat elections next month.
With the new governor giving the green signal to the bill, it will now become law, restoring the old practice of reservation in panchayat elections. After this amendment, no candidate will be able to contest on the party symbol. New Governor Gulab Chand Kataria giving the green signal to this bill is also a sign of smooth relations between Raj Bhavan and the state government.
