Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Celebrates International Day of Democracy

The University School of Law of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated International Day of Democracy under the patronage of the honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh and Prof.(Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs of the University.The Chief Guest of the event was Manjinder Singh, Member Secretary, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar. He encouraged and motivated srudents to work together and stand up for their rights and duties. He further expressed his serious concern on rising number of drug cases and global warming. Arun Gupta, District and Session Judge and Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib was the guest of honour. He emphasised on the need for collective participation in democracy and democratic beliefs. He informed the students about the internship programme offered by NALSA. CJM Deepti Goyal, Member Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib also graced the occasion.
Prof.(Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs welcomed the guests and congratulated the University School of Law for organising such an event.
While talking to the media Prof.(Dr.) Pritpal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University shared that the purpose of the day is to observe and assess the state of democracy around the world and promote democratic principles, such as human rights laws and freedom of speech. The event comprises Power Point Presentation on "Navigating Artificial Intelligence for Governance and Citizen Engagement", slogan writing competition, documentary making, skit, instagram reels on the theme and gidha performance.Dr. Navneet Kaur, In-charge, University School of Law stated that the theme for the International Day of Democracy is focused on the importance of Artificial Intelligence as a tool for good governance. She extended vote of thanks on behalf of the department to the honourable guests.
