Chandigarh, September 25
The state election commission has announced the date for the panchayat polls. Raj Kamal Chaudhuri, State Election Commissioner informed that the general Gram panchayat election would be held on October 15. The voting will take place from 8 am to 4 pm.The nomination for the polls would start on September 27 and October 4 will be the last date to file the nomination.
Raj Kamal Chaudhuri, State Election Commissioner informed that there are total 13237 gram panchayats in the state. 19110 polling booths would be setup in the state. The total registered voters are 13397932. The polling would be done through ballot boxes.
The model code of conduct has been enforced in the state with the announcement of panchayat polls.
Also, on October 15 (Tuesday), there will be holiday in the state.
