Department of Biotechnology in collaboration with Women Grievance Redressal Cell of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized ‘Slogan Making Event’ to create awareness on the occasion of International day of the Girl Child. The theme for the event reverberated with the United Nation’s 2024 theme “Girls’ vision for the future”. The theme conveys both the need for urgent action and persistent hope, driven by the power of girls' voices and vision for the future.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the potential of girls as the future of society and to encourage individuals to empower girls. The event also created awareness about the issues women face across the world. The event was organized by the extra-curricular activity in-charge of the Department, Jasmeen Kaur. She developed curiosity and interest among students and encouraged them to participate in the event. Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Head of Biotechnology Department and Convener of Women Grievance Redressal Cell of the University emphasized the significance of creating a more inclusive society that supports girls in overcoming barriers such as gender bias, discrimination, and limited access to resources. She further stressed the vital role women play in scientific advancements particularly in the field of Science and Technology. Prof. PritPal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University said that such awareness events should be regularly organized. Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs congratulated the Department for successful organization of the event.
