University School of Law of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organised a seminar on the Legal Framework for Pollution Control in Punjab. Kahan Singh Pannu, retired IAS officer was the guest speaker. He sensitised the audience about pollution control and environmental management in the state. Pannu emphasized the importance of a robust legal framework to enforce pollution control measures effectively. He also advocated for public participation and governmental accountability in safeguarding natural resources. He highlighted successful projects, such as the Mission Tandarust Punjab designed to promote a healthy environment through policy-driven actions aimed at pollution mitigation and resource conservation. He urged the students and faculty to not only understand the legal provisions but also to become active participants in implementing and advocating for sustainable practices at the grassroots level.Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University applauded Pannu's exemplary contributions to public welfare and environmental sustainability. In his address, the Vice Chancellor elaborated on the effects of fire crackers on the environment. He appealed students to celebrate green and clean Diwali.
Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, shared his views on the importance of raising awareness about pollution control measures and urged students to engage deeply with these topics to bring about societal change.
Dr. Navneet Kaur, Department In-charge commended the active participation of students who presented well-researched papers and PPT presentations on various aspects of pollution control, further enriching the seminar's discourse.
