A Two-day youth Fest “Pargas-2024” was organized by Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University on October 28 and 29, 2024. With over 1,000 enthusiastic participants from diverse Departments, the fest emerged as a common platform of talent, creativity, and cultural celebration. Advocate Amardeep Singh Dharni, President, District Bar Association (DBA), Fatehgarh Sahib was the chief guest of the event.
Dr. Prit Pal Singh Vice-Chancellor of the University inaugurated the fest “PARGAS 2024” and congratulated the faculty members for this endeavour. He said that the fest is not just a fair; It is a platform for the students to shine, collaborate and preserve the richness of Punjabi culture”. He also expressed the hope that the University will organise more such activities in future as well. Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, welcomed the participants and guests, and encouraged the students to get involved in co-curricular activities for their all-round development.
On Day one, the participants entertained the audience with folk songs, mime, skits, rangoli, mehandi, debate, Elocution, quiz, mimicry, short movies and street plays.
The highlight of the second day of the fair was a spectacular performance of the famous folk dances of Punjab- Gidha, Bhangra and Malwai Gidha, Mime and Nukkad Naatak. Dr. Tejbir Singh Registrar of the University, Dr. Kiranpreet Kaur Kaliya, Assistant Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Satvinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Khalsa College Patiala and Heads of various Departments also graced the occasion. At the end of the event, Dr. Prit Pal Singh honoured the winners with trophies and prizes. Dr. Sikandar Singh, Dean Students' Welfare extended his heartfelt thanks to all the guests, media, faculty members and participants.
