Chandigarh, 1 Nov

After the heat of the summer season, it is often seen that the month of October gets cold, but this year there was no significant change in the weather. For the past one week, the average minimum and maximum temperatures of Punjab including Chandigarh have been 3 to 6 degrees above normal.

Last day some were celebrating Diwali on 31st October and some on 1st November, in such a situation, the use of firecrackers has started increasing since Wednesday night, after which the level of pollution in the environment has also started increasing. Due to which people had a lot of difficulty in breathing and at the same time the temperature level was also seen increasing.

On the night of Diwali, the level of pollution in Punjab reached a dangerous level. In most of the cities, the pollution has reached the Orange Alert, that is, the grade-1 status has been implemented here. The AQI crossed 500 when the fireworks started at night.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) experts, the lack of Western Disturbance that brings rain and snowfall to the hilly regions of North India is the main reason for this October's heat. According to the department's data, the minimum temperature last week was around 20 degrees Celsius, which is about 5 degrees above normal.
