The Department of Education at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, successfully conducted "Special Campaign 4.0" from October 2nd to October 31st, 2024. This campaign was aligned with the directives of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and aimed to foster cleanliness, sustainability, and community awareness. Coordinated by Dr. Ramanjeet Kaur and Ms. Gurvinder Kaur, Assistant Professors, the campaign engaged students and community members through a series of activities that promoted environmental responsibility and social consciousness.
The campaign commenced in the first week (October 9-11, 2024) with creative competitions such as Poster Designing and Rangoli Making, which raised awareness about cleanliness and the importance of maintaining a clean environment. An awareness session titled 'Bottles for Change' was conducted by Mr. Sukhman Singh, Executive CSR of Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., Chandigarh and Punjab, highlighting the importance of recycling plastic bottles and reducing plastic waste.
In the second week (October 14-18, 2024), a workshop titled “Role of Soil Preparations and Microbial Biodiversity in Kitchen Gardening” was led by Dr. Arun Bansal, Administrator, Social Substance, and Mr. Puneet Arora, CEO of Ecologic Corporation. This workshop promoted sustainable gardening practices. Additionally, podcast recording sessions were held to spread messages of cleanliness and sustainability through digital platforms.Week three (October 21-25, 2024) featured a workshop on “Empowering Education through Reusing and Recycling of Resources”, conducted by Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Founder and President of the Open Eyes Foundation. The workshop educated students on how reusing and recycling could enhance educational practices. This week also included a stationery donation drive, where students contributed items to support children in need, reinforcing the values of sharing and sustainability.The campaign concluded in the fourth week (October 28-30, 2024) with an awareness drive in local schools. This activity educated young students on cleanliness and sustainable habits through engaging and interactive sessions.Dr. Harneet Billing, Head of the Department of Education, noted that this campaign embodied the department's commitment to blending practical, value-based learning with social responsibility. “These initiatives not only elevated our students' understanding of environmental sustainability but also extended these values into the community,” Dr. Billing stated.The Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing said that “Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University is dedicated to nurturing responsible, eco-conscious individuals. Special Campaign 4.0 was a testament to our ongoing efforts to merge educational pursuits with community-oriented action, ensuring that our students actively contribute to a sustainable future.”The Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh remarked, “We are proud of the collective efforts made during Special Campaign 4.0. This initiative showcased our students’ dedication to the greater good and reinforced our mission to produce leaders who are both knowledgeable and socially responsible. It is through such campaigns that we build a foundation of lifelong learning and commitment to community welfare.”
