Opposition parties united on not holding Senate elections in Punjab University; protested

Today, leaders of various parties staged a protest in Punjab University against the non-conduct of Senate elections in Punjab. The opposition parties have united over the non-conduct of Senate elections in PU.

Several leaders including senior Punjab Congress leaders Pratap Singh Bajwa, Parhat Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar, former minister Daljit Singh Cheema attended. Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Pratap Singh and Pratap Singh Bajwa also arrived.

The protestors said that the issue of Punjab University is very important. This is not a university issue alone but it is a battle of Punjab. A movement is needed for the battle of Punjab, whatever battle is fought Akali Dal will support it.

Pratap Singh Bajwa said that the rights of Punjab are being taken away from the last few years. Paddy is not being picked. DAP fertilizer is not available. He said that the Chief Minister of Punjab is demanding the seat of the new Vidhan Sabha, which is completely wrong. Punjab has 60 percent rights in Chandigarh but it is being reduced continuously.
