Under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh, Vice Chancellor, volunteers from the University School of Law actively participated in a community outreach camp at Village Talanian, District Fatehgarh Sahib. The camp, titled Drug Addiction – Damage to Mankind, was organized in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib. Advocate Mandeep Singh Salana and Tirath Singh Kapurgarh , a para-legal volunteer, provided insightful guidance to the students during the camp. They highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse, emphasizing its impact on the brain, heart, and other vital organs. The discussions underscored how drug addiction adversely affects academic performance, sports, and decision-making abilities, while also encouraging youth to stay away from drugs. The camp focused on preventive strategies, advocating for collaborative efforts by families, schools, communities, and media to raise awareness about the risks of drug abuse. Volunteers shared practical ways to prevent children from using drugs and explored the underlying reasons why young people are drawn to substance use.
Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean of Academic Affairs, commended the students for their proactive participation in addressing critical societal issues through community service. Dr. Navneet Kaur, Department In-charge, expressed that the event aimed to educate and sensitize the community, especially the younger generation, about the dangers of drug addiction. The initiative was a meaningful and impactful effort towards creating a drug-free society, reflecting the university’s commitment to societal well-being.
