New Delhi 28 November 2024:
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha raised concerns about the growing drug problem in Punjab in Rajya Sabha, questioning the government's inadequate measures to address the issue.
In a written response, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai replied to Chadha's questions, but his answers were largely unsatisfactory. Rai stated that the central government had taken some steps to combat drug trafficking in Punjab, but failed to provide concrete evidence of their effectiveness.
Chadha emphasized that the drug problem in Punjab is not just a law and order issue, but a social problem that requires a collective effort to resolve. He urged the government to treat the issue as a national mission and involve the entire society in the fight against drugs.
The MP also expressed concern about the impact of drug abuse on Punjab's youth, stating that their future is at stake. He called upon the government to take concrete steps to address the issue and provide support to those affected by drug abuse.
The issue of drug abuse in Punjab remains a major challenge for the state, with many young lives being lost to the menace. Raghav Chadha's efforts to raise awareness about the issue and push for concrete action from the government are a step in the right direction.
