Chandigarh Municipal Corporation not only organized the Mega three day Rose Festival by raising 100% sponsorship but also saved Rs. 11.57 lacs from the total expenditure of the event.
While sharing this information, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, MC Chandigarh said here today that the MCC has successfully organized the 53rd edition of mega Rose Festival with Zero budget and saved Rs. 11.57 lacs from the total expenditure. He said that the MC has secured the expenditure from sponsorship in exchange for advertising space at Rose Garden and auction of space inside the garden during the festival.
The Commissioner said that for the first time in the festival’s history, the entire event organized from February 21st to 23rd was funded entirely through private sponsorships and auction of space from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 10 lacs amounting to Rs. 60.55 lacs while the total expenditure assessed amounting to Rs. 48.98 lacs saving Rs. 11.57 lacs.
He said that the Municipal Corporation has managed to organise this mega festival without spending a single rupee from its coffers due to financial difficulties. He said that around 21 sponsor including major firms and local business associations, PSUs and Banks have come forward to support the festival in exchange for advertising space at the Rose Garden.
The Commissioner further said that all the cultural evenings were organized by the support of North Zone Culture Centre (NZCC) and Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi (CSNA) besides Hasya Kavi Sammelan by association of city based poets namely ‘Ibaarat’.
He said that all the competitions were organized as done in previous years, besides showcasing beautiful flower arrangements and bonsai exhibits. Previously, the MCC has successfully organized the Chrysanthemum show without a budget by auctioning food court space at the Terraced Garden, Sector 33 during December, 2024.
