The University School of Law at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University proudly hosted the inaugural ceremony of the National Moot Court Competition today. The event was graced by eminent legal luminaries, faculty members, and enthusiastic students. The Chief Guest of the event Justice Bawa Singh Walia, Former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and special invitee Advocate Harvinder Singh Mann, Treasurer of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, were warmly welcomed by Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean of the University School of Law. In her address, Dr. Kaushal highlighted the significant contributions of Justice Walia to the legal fraternity and their unwavering commitment to judicial excellence. Justice Bawa Singh Walia, in his keynote address, emphasised that the need of the hour is to inculcate the values of empathy, justice and morality enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, in youth. He expressed his delight that the University is successfully imbibing these values in its students. He also encouraged students to hone their advocacy skills and uphold the principles of justice.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh also addressed the gathering, lauding the University School of Law for taking this commendable initiative. He stressed the role of such competitions in fostering legal acumen and preparing students for real-world courtroom challenges.
The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Navneet Kaur, Convener of event who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries for their esteemed presence. The inaugural function set an inspiring tone for the competition, with participants from various law schools across the nation gearing up for rigorous legal battles.
