India’s warehousing sector recorded leasing of 16.7 million square feet in the January-March quarter, marking a significant 50 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase, a report showed on Friday.

There was a strong performance in warehousing leasing across the top eight markets during Q1 2025, primarily driven by the manufacturing sector, which recorded a remarkable 94 per cent surge in leasing volumes, reaching 8 million sq ft in the first quarter, said the report by Knight Frank India.

Manufacturing companies accounted for 48 per cent of total warehousing demand, underscoring the sector’s continued momentum and long-term investment outlook.

E-commerce players also registered a notable resurgence, with a 151 per cent increase in space uptake — albeit from a lower base — indicating renewed expansion activity.

India to flag Pakistan’s terror record at IMF loan meeting

India will oppose Pakistan’s case for availing a fresh $1.3 billion IMF loan at an executive board meeting of the multilateral institution to be held on Friday.

Foreign Secretary Misri confirmed that India’s executive director, Parameswaran Iyer, will participate in the upcoming IMF board meeting to highlight concerns related to Pakistan as a country that funds and actively promotes terrorism as a state policy.

He said that “the case with regard to Pakistan should be self-evident to those who generously open their pockets to bail out this country.”

He urged IMF board members to “look within and study the facts before extending further assistance.”

Army releases video of India destroying Pakistani military post

The Indian Army has released the first video of a strike carried out at a Pakistani military post, responding to the cross-border firing by Islamabad troops in the face of escalating tension between the two countries.

Although the video doesn't mention the sector where the military post was destroyed, it shows the Army's befitting reply to the continuous ceasefire violations.

The Indian Army, in a statement, said that Pakistan launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire Western Border on the intervening night of May 8 and 9 and resorted to numerous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, which were effectively repulsed.

"Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded to with force," the statement read.

Seven terrorists killed as BSF foils infiltration bid from Pak in J&K's Samba

Seven terrorists were killed on Friday by troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) during a foiled infiltration bid on the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.

BSF sources said a heavily armed group of terrorists, aided by fire cover by Pakistan rangers, tried to infiltrate into the Indian side of the International Border in Samba district.

“Seven terrorists have been killed during this foiled infiltration bid. The operation is still going on in the area,” sources said.

After its drones and low-range missiles fired at target defence installations were neutralised by the alert troops in Jammu, Samba, R.S. Pura and other places, terrorists aided by Pakistan troops made an unsuccessful infiltration attempt in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on the border.

A BSF spokesman said a major infiltration bid from across the International Border was foiled around 11 p.m. on Thursday evening. The intruding terrorists were forced to withdraw back into the Pakistan side of the border.

10 years of PMJJBY: Low-cost life insurance a big help for families in Jharkhand, say beneficiaries

As the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) marks a decade since its inception, stories from across India underscore the scheme's tangible impact on the ground, especially in regions like Jharkhand's Koderma and Sahibganj districts where thousands have found security and solace in its simple yet effective design.

In Koderma alone, nearly 1.31 lakh individuals have enrolled in PMJJBY, a government-backed life insurance scheme that provides a guaranteed cover of Rs 2 lakh at an annual premium of just Rs 436.

Local beneficiaries speak of the policy as more than just insurance -- it is a "gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the poor", said one resident, reflecting the sense of relief and dignity the scheme brings in times of personal loss.

Beneficiaries in the district acknowledge the harsh unpredictability of life -- accidents, illnesses, and unforeseen tragedies that often leave families shattered and financially vulnerable.

US sees increase in cancer incidence rates among adults under 50: Study

A new study by researchers at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) has revealed a concerning rise in the incidence of several cancer types among individuals under age 50 in the country between 2010 and 2019.

According to the findings, published in the journal Cancer Discovery, the incidence of 14 out of 33 analysed cancer types increased in at least one younger age group,” news agency reported.

Notably, common cancers such as female breast, colorectal, kidney, and uterine cancers saw marked increases, with some of these also rising among older adults.

"This study provides a starting point for understanding which cancers are increasing among individuals under age 50," said lead investigator Meredith Shiels, from NIH's National Cancer Institute.

IPL 2025: Cool cat Dayal follows his process to reap rewards as a death bowler

In the last couple of years. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) medium pacer Yash Dayal has emerged as one of the best death-over bowlers in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He earned this reputation by twice denying victory to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final over.

Dayal did that in the 2023 edition and repeated the act a couple of days back when he thwarted Chennai Super Kings and its legendary captain MS Dhoni to secure a two-run victory for RCB.

At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 5, the nerveless Dayal played a key role in RCB's two-run win over CSK. The win helped RCB complete a double against CSK by winning both the home and away matches.

With 15 required off the final over, the equation tilted dramatically after Dayal bowled a high full toss that Shivam Dube launched for six, reducing the equation to six off three balls. But the 26-year-old stayed ice-cool, nailing three perfect yorkers to keep CSK down to just four runs. Dayal finished with figures of 2 for 36 as the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium erupted in deafening celebration.
