Actress Kajol on the occasion of Teacher’s Day shared that the two biggest teachers in her life are her mother Tanuja and daughter Nysa.

Kajol took to Instagram, where she shared a throwback picture from her toddler days. In the monochrome picture a baby kajol is seen sitting on her mother’s shoulders and smiling at the camera.

“To the two bigggest teachers of my life … my mom who gave me all the lessons and the child me who learnt them in her own way.. stumbling and falling and misunderstanding and experiencing .. I can see u both so much clearer now .. #happyteachersday #firstteacher #motherknowsbest,” she wrote as the caption.

ECI issues notification for 3rd phase of J&K Assembly polls

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday issued the notification for 3rd and the last phase of the J&K Assembly polls.

ECI notification said that a total of 40 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in the districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Udhampur, Kathua, Samba and Jammu shall go to polls in the third and final phase of Assembly Elections-2024.

“In Kashmir Division 16 Assembly Constituencies comprising 01-Karnah; 02-Trehgam; 03-Kupwara; 04-Lolab; 05-Handwara; 06- Langate; 07- Sopore; 08-Rafiabad; 09-Uri; 10-Baramulla; 11- Gulmarg; 12- Wagoora -Kreeri;13-Pattan; 14-Sonawari; 15-Bandipora; 16- Gurez (ST).

Punjab Cabinet gives nod to formulate new agriculture policy

The Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Thursday, gave its nod to formulate a new agriculture policy for ensuring the welfare of farmers as well as giving impetus to food production.

A decision to this effect was made at a meeting of the Council of Ministers here.

A spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s Office said that with traditional agriculture in the state reaching a plateau stage, it is imperative to formulate a robust agriculture policy to give a boost to food production.

Former J&K Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah filed nomination papers from the Budgam Assembly constituency as well on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the former Chief Minister had filed papers for the Ganderbal constituency. NC said that Omar Abdullah would be the only party candidate to fight Assembly elections from two constituencies.

Lok Sabha member, Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, NC leader, Aga Mehmood, party treasurer, Shammi Oberoi and NC provincial secretary, Shaukat Mir accompanied Omar to the returning officer’s office when he went to Budgam.

Speaking to reporters after Omar filed papers, Lok Sabha member, Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said that Omar’s coming to fight election from Budgam is a welcome step.

Centre sets 500 million tonnes domestic steel production by 2034

The Centre on Thursday set the target of achieving 500 million tonnes of steel production by 2034, urging the industry to find new ways towards low emission, high productivity, high quality and the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

The country's crude steel production shot up by over 35 million tonnes in the last four years, from 109.14 million tonnes in 2019-20 to 144.30 million tonnes in 2023-24, as per the latest government data last month.

Addressing the ‘ISA Steel Conclave’ in the national capital, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, said the industry leaders should focus their energy on economies of scale through decarbonisation, as "green steel will be in more demand".

Three Syrian soldiers were killed in an armed attack on a military vehicle near the Naima Bridge, east of the southern province of Daraa on Thursday,

The attack occurred in the early morning hours as unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, killing three soldiers at the scene,

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes amid ongoing instability in southern Syria, a region that has seen a resurgence of violence in recent months despite reconciliation agreements.

The assault came just one day after a government convoy, including the Daraa governor and the head of the Baath Party branch in Daraa, was targeted in eastern Daraa.

Daraa, often referred to as the birthplace of Syria's 2011 uprising, continues to experience sporadic clashes between government forces and various armed factions.
