Delhi school blast: Police probe Khalistani link after Telegram post

The Delhi Police were probing a possible Khalistani link in the blast that ripped through the wall of a CRPF school in Delhi's Rohini after a threatening social media post went viral.

Delhi Police have written to the messaging app Telegram, seeking details of a pro-Khalistani channel that claimed responsibility for the blast on Sunday, officials said.

The blast sent shockwaves across the national capital. No one was injured in the incident.

Delhi Police have said they were investigating the connection after the Telegram post claimed the explosion was in retaliation for the alleged targeting of pro-Khalistan separatists by Indian agents.

At least half a dozen people are feared to be trapped under the debris after an explosion in a building in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Saturday.

The impact of the explosion was such that the building collapsed completely within a few seconds, turning into debris.

Eyewitnesses told the press that at least four residential buildings located adjacent to the blast site were also damaged badly.

Local area police and district administration were alerted and the rescue operation was underway. According to information, two women were rescued alive and they have been rushed to a nearby hospital.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday appealed to junior doctors, over the mobile phone of Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, to withdraw their fast-unto-death agitation in support of their demands over the ghastly rape and murder of a junior woman doctor of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital.

Pant, accompanied by the Home Secretary Nandini Chakraborty and Kolkata Police's Deputy Commissioner, Central division, Indira Mukherjee suddenly turned up at the dais of the hunger strike by seven junior doctors at Esplanade in central Kolkata.

There, the Chief Secretary contacted the Chief Minister on his mobile phone and she made her appeal to the protesting junior doctors over its speaker.

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper injured in a road accident in Jammu & Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday, succumbed to critical injuries on Saturday in the hospital.

Nineteen CRPF troopers were injured on Friday when their vehicle went out of the driver’s control and skidded off the road.

The injured troopers belong to 181-F company of the CRPF. A rescue team immediately reached the accident spot and shifted the injured to the hospital in Chrar-e-Sharief town in Budgam district.

Attending doctors at Chrar-e-Sharief Hospital on Friday referred nine injured troopers to SMHS hospital in Srinagar city.

One of the injured troopers succumbed to injuries in the hospital today, officials said.

The fast-unto-death demonstration by a group of junior doctors against the ghastly rape and murder of their colleague at R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata has entered the 15th day on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a mega rally from the residence of the victim junior doctor at Panihati in North 24 Parganas district to Esplanade, the venue of continuing fast-unto-death protests by junior doctors, will be organised on Saturday.

The West Bengal Junior Doctors' Forum (WBJDF), the umbrella body of the junior doctors spearheading the movement against the R. G. Kar rape and murder, has invited the common people to participate in the rally, adding that there would be protest demonstrations at every medical college and hospital in the state, state-run or private, in support of their demands.

The Crime Branch of Odisha Police on Friday apprised the judicial commission headed by retired justice Chitta Ranjan Dash about the progress in investigation made so far into the alleged custodial torture of an army officer and the molestation of his fiancee at Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar on September 15.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting with the commission here, Additional Director General of police (Crime Branch) Vinaytosh Mishra on Friday said: "The lie detection test of all the accused police officials have been completed. The brain mapping and narco test of Ex-IIC of Bharatpur police station Dinakrushna Mishra have also been conducted. The experts are analysing the test results which may take a little longer as per their process. However, we will request them to provide the report to us as early as possible on a priority basis."

It is pertinent here to mention that the lie detection test on all the five accused cops and narco analysis, polygraph and brain finger printing tests on the Dinakrushna Mishra, ex-IIC of Bharatpur police station were conducted at the state Forensic Science Laboratory in Gandhi Nagar of Gujarat a couple of days ago.

Bahraich violence: Red marks on houses trigger panic among local residents

In a significant move, the Public Works Department (PWD) has marked a couple of houses in Bahraich with red signs. The houses which have been marked in the red include that of key accused Sarfaraz and others, believed to have been involved in the murder of Ram Gopal Mishra.

Bahraich police have apprehended more than 52 individuals till date, in connection with 11 separate cases filed after the incident.

The move to mark houses in the red comes almost a week after the communal violence shook Bahraich's Maharajganj (October 13) and is being seen as a precursor to bulldozer action. The main accused Sarfaraz was gunned down in a police encounter on Thursday while attempting to flee to Nepal.

After the derailment of six coaches, engine and the power car of Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express on Thursday at Dibalong in Assam, the normal train services were restored on Friday in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section, officials said.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that SMVT Bengaluru-Agartala Express became the first train to pass through the accident-affected section at Dibalong.

“Normal train services in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section that were affected due to the derailment of Mumbai bound Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express on Thursday have been restored on Friday,” Sharma told.

Bengal to remove unlicensed shops on RG Kar premises

The West Bengal Health Department has decided to direct the administration to remove all unlicensed shops on the premises of state-run R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, amid pressure from protesting doctors and the public agitating against the gruesome rape and murder of a woman doctor in the health facility.

Previously, there had been several complaints against the former and controversial principal of R. G. Kar for allowing unlicensed shops on the hospital premises against hefty commissions.

The junior doctors, protesting against the rape and murder, complained that these unlicensed shops were mainly the assembly point of anti-social elements from outside which vitiated the ambience within the hospital premises.
