J&K: Terrorist associate arrested with pistol in Kupwara

A terrorist associate was arrested on Tuesday with a pistol by police in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Officials said that during a CASO (Cordon & Search Operation) at Bongam Chogul in the jurisdiction of Handwara police station in Kupwara district, police, 22 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 battalion CRPF, apprehended one terrorist associate, namely Ashiq Hussain Wani, and recovered one pistol along with one magazine and seven live rounds.

On November 3 a dozen civilians were injured when terrorists hurled a grenade at a CRPF vehicle in the busy Sunday market.

The grenade missed the target and exploded on the road.

A leopard killed a dog at a homestay in Valparai in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday morning.

According to officials from the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, the homestay owners woke up to the dog’s cries, only to find that the leopard had already killed it.

Local residents have since demanded urgent action from the authorities, calling for the leopard to be trapped and relocated.

This incident comes just days after a tragic attack in Valparai, where a 6-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard.

Tension prevailed at Hayathnagar Zilla Parishad school on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Tuesday as the family members of a six-year-old boy who died after an iron gate fell on him staged a protest, demanding justice.

The boy's parents and other relatives staged a sit-in in front of the school. Hayathnagar corporator Jeevan Reddy and leaders of the Students Federation of India (SFI) also joined the protest, demanding justice for the family of the deceased.

The protesters demanded that the principal own responsibility for the death of the boy. They were also demanding Rs 20 lakh compensation for his family.

Rangareddy District Education Officer (DEO) Sushinder Rao reached the school. He was holding talks with the protestors.

Ajay, studying class I in the same school, died when the iron gate fell on him on Monday. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. when Ajay was playing near the gate.

The ill-fated bus, transporting passengers from Garhwal to Kumaon, was reportedly overloaded at the time of the accident on Monday morning.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the vehicle lost control before plummeting into the gorge, leading to fears that the casualty count may rise further, as approximately 40 people were believed to be aboard the bus when the mishap took place.

The driver reportedly lost control of the overcrowded bus as it approached Kupail Village, causing it to plunge into a deep gorge.

The incident occurred in Tadiparru village in Undrajavaram mandal on Sunday night when they were busy in the arrangements for the inauguration of a statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud.

The statue of the freedom fighter was to be unveiled by actor Suman on Monday.

Police said the victims were putting up a flexi when they came into contact with a live wire. While four persons died on the spot, the fifth was critically injured. He was shifted to a hospital.

Delhi's air quality further plummeted following Diwali, as the Air Quality Index (AQI) reading surpassed 400 in multiple parts of the national capital on Monday, placing it in the 'severe' category.

Areas including Anand Vihar (433), Ashok Vihar (410), Rohini (411), and Vivek Vihar (426) registered AQI levels above 400, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Other regions like Dwarka, Patparganj, Jahangirpuri, and Punjabi Bagh also recorded 'severe' AQI levels.

Meanwhile, several parts of Delhi fell into the "very poor" category, with Lajpat Nagar, RK Puram, Lodi Road, and North Campus reporting AQIs above 370. The city's average 24-hour AQI at 7 a.m. on Monday was 373, a notable decline from Sunday.

A group of wild elephants went on a rampage, killing two persons and injuring another near the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) in Madhya Pradesh, officials said on Saturday.

The incident occurred days after BTR in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria district witnessed the death of 10 elephants.

The elephants that attacked the people are believed to be part of the same herd of which 10 jumbos died, the official added.

The first attack was reported in Devra village, around 10 km away from BTR, where Ramratan Yadav (50) was trampled to death early on Saturday.

Two officials associated with a hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Dindori district were suspended after a pregnant woman was forced to clean the blood-stained bed on which her husband succumbed to injuries, an official said on Saturday.

The man had sustained severe wounds during a brutal attack on his family.

The action (suspension of two officials) by Dindori district administration came hours after a video showing the woman cleaning a bed surfaced on social media, creating outrage.

Medical officer Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, who was also in-charge of the primary health care in Gadasarai (from where the episode of woman cleaning bed was reported), has been transferred.

12 injured after two groups clash in MP's Jabalpur

At least 12 people were injured after two groups pelted stones at each other over a minor dispute in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district on Saturday.

According to information, the incident occurred in Koni village, under Patan police station, around 60 km from district headquarters Jabalpur.

A 'Dial 100' police vehicle was also damaged during the violence.

The condition of two injured persons was said to be critical, and they were referred to Jabalpur Medical College
