Students displayed their creative interpretations of constitutional values through vibrant and thought-provoking posters, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. An Essay Writing Competition on the theme Role of Youth in Upholding Constitutional Values was coordinated by Satwant Kaur. This event offered students a platform to reflect on their role in strengthening democracy. The students enthusiastically shared their views, engaging in a robust exchange of ideas that fostered a deeper understanding of the Constitution’s essence. Adding an intellectual dimension, the University School of Law organised a motivational talk by District & Sessions Judge Arun Gupta. Arun Gupta delivered an inspiring address today, underscoring the significance of the Indian Constitution as a "grand vision statement" for building an egalitarian society. Speaking on the occasion of Constitution Day, Gupta reflected on the historic day of November 26, 1949, when the Constitution of India was enacted, adopted, and handed over to the people, paving the way for a democratic and just nation. Arun Gupta emphasized the importance of commemorating this day every year to honor the visionary framers of the Indian Constitution. He highlighted that the Government of India, through the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, had officially notified November 26 as Constitution Day in 2015. The day is celebrated to promote constitutional values and instill a sense of responsibility among citizens. While addressing the audience, Gupta drew inspiration from the vision of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. He remarked that Bhagat Singh’s dream for India was to create a socialist nation, free from the clutches of poverty, hunger, and unemployment. He encouraged students to reflect on this vision and contribute actively to the progress of the country. The NSS volunteers extended the celebrations to government schools in the district by organizing quizzes, debates, and slogan-writing competitions to raise awareness about constitutional values among young minds. Dr. Harneet Billing, Head of the Department of Education, lauded the enthusiastic participation of students, stating, Such activities instill a deeper understanding of the Constitution and inspire a commitment to its ideals among the youth.” Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, highlighted the dynamic nature of the Constitution, remarking, “The Constitution not only unites us but also provides the framework for progress and inclusivity.” Prof. Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor, commended the department for its efforts, emphasizing, “Celebrating Constitution Day reminds us of our shared responsibility to uphold the democratic values that bind our nation together.
