For the last few days the Punjab government has been vigorously running its campaign against drugs, and a petition filed in the High Court by an NGO challenging these efforts has led the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to level serious allegations against the Congress.

Senior AAP leader and MP Malvinder Singh Kang accused the Congress party of trying to use the courts to halt the Punjab government's anti-drug campaign. He said that the organization 'People Welfare Society,' which filed the petition against the government’s actions targeting drug smugglers, is run by staunch Congress supporters.

Kang showed the media old photos of the NGO operators Kanwar Rajinder Singh and Kanwar Pal Singh with Rahul Gandhi and then-Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, highlighting their longstanding ties with the Congress party.

The notification regarding implementation of 6th Pay Commission, endorsed to private-aided colleges of Chandigarh, has sent a wave of relief among the non-teaching staff of aided colleges in Chandigarh. Diwakar Tiwari, President, Non Teaching Staff Union of all Government aided colleges UT Chandigarh, said that "The non-teaching fraternity expresses deep gratitude to worthy Director of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration for his generous support to the cause of the non-teaching staff of aided colleges".

Chandigarh Health Department Organizes Walkathon for 100 Days TB Elimination Campaign

As part of the 100 Days Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Chandigarh Health Department organized a Walkathon at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh to raise awareness about Tuberculosis (TB) and encourage community participation in the fight against the disease. The Walkathon was flagged off by Dr. Sushil K. Mahi, Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16, Chandigarh, along with Dr. Paramjit Singh, DMS, GMSH-16, and Dr. Rajesh Rana, State TB Officer, Chandigarh.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 250 students from various colleges, who carried banners and posters to spread awareness about TB. The primary objective of the Walkathon was to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage public engagement in the nationwide effort to eliminate TB. During the event, students actively distributed pamphlets containing vital TB-related information, including symptoms of TB, services provided by the Government of India, details about Nikshay Shivirs, the 100 Days TB-Free India Campaign, and the role of Nikshay Mitras in supporting TB patients.

Taking strict note of a news published regarding unnecessary challaning done by the Sanitary Inspectors of MC Chandigarh, the Commissioner MCC, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS has dismissed the services of Sh. Atul Rana, Sh. Baljinder Singh and Sh. Shashi kant, Sanitary Inapectors (through outsourced).
 
The three Inspectors were deployed with the MOH department through Outsource agency. The challan of a restaurant at 11.30 pm at outside the area of their preview.
 
After the dismessal orders of the Commissioner, the MCC has written to the Outsource agency that the services of these three Inspectors are no more required in the office of MOH and their services may be discontinued with immediate effect.

The Sports Department, UT Chandigarh Administration will be organizing a Tennis Tournament (Under-19 for Boys & Girls and 40+ Men) from 19.03.2025 to 22.03.2025 at Lake Sports Complex, Chandigarh.

The last date for receiving entries on the requisite Proforma is 12.03.2025. The proforma for entries will be available on the department website i.e. http://sportsdeptt.chd.gov.in as well as at the Tennis Coaching Centre Sector-42, Sports Complex, Chandigarh and Lake Sports Complex, Chandigarh. The entries will be accepted only physically at the said coaching centres after verifying the credentials of the desirous participants.
There will be no entry fee to participate in the tournament and all participants will be offered refreshment during their matches.
