Under the leadership of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police busted a gang involved in hawala business and arrested a person and recovered about 3 crore rupees including 3100 US dollars from him. Giving information, the Police Commissioner said that the police had received the information of the informer, after which the team of Police Station Navi Baradri Jalandhar conducted a check near T-Point Bashirpura Jalandhar. He said that the police had received information from a reliable source that some criminals were selling illegal arms, liquor and drugs in the city. Acting immediately on the intelligence, the team stopped a Creta car for checking and arrested Punit Sood alias Gandhi son of Raj Dev son of police station no. B.-361, Katra Mohalla Near Dussehra Ground Hoshiarpur, when he was going to deliver the Hawala Rashi. During the checking, the police recovered Rs 2,93,05,800, 3100 foreign currency (US dollars) from his possession. Swapan Sharma said that the police is tracing the origin and location of the Hawala money and the details will be shared soon.
