Commissionerate police arrested three for forcing her daughter-in-law to commit suicide after putting pressure on her

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, under the leadership of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, has arrested three accused for forcing his daughter-in-law to commit suicide by putting pressure on her. Giving information in this regard, the Police Commissioner said that late Shami Kumar, resident of Vandana Devi, resident of Bathianwala Mohalla, Dhobighat Road, had complained that his daughter Sunaina was married to Bharat Atwal alias Jolly, son of Sobha Ram, resident of Maur no. 66 happened eight months ago with Mohalla No. 30, Jalandhar Cantt. He said that after the marriage, Sunaina's in-laws started demanding dowry and started harassing her. Mr. Swapan Sharma said that due to this distress, Sunaina committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan on 10.07.2024. The Commissioner of Police said that as a result of this, a case has been registered against Bharat Atwal alias Jolly (husband), Baby (mother-in-law), Sobha Ram (mother-in-law), Sonia, Monica, Manisha and Japji Sukh (mother-in-law). He said that the case is being investigated further and raids are being conducted to arrest the other accused.
